How You’ll Make an Impact
As a Maintenance Craftsperson you'll be at the forefront of our innovation, driving specialty chemical solutions forward. You'll collaborate with a diverse group of passionate individuals to deliver sustainable solutions to advance mobility, improve wellbeing, and enhance modern life.
The Maintenance Mechanic at Lubrizol Wickliffe will install, assemble, dismantle, maintain, troubleshoot and repair process equipment, piping, rotating equipment, and structural steel to specifications. They will provide the necessary technical and hands on support to continuously improve plant equipment integrity, reliability, cost, and on-stream performance.
In this role, you will:
- Adhere to all plant Environmental, Health, Safety, and Security guidelines, policies and procedures.
- Take a proactive approach to safety and identify and mitigate hazards in the workplace.
- Installs, repairs, maintains, and performs Preventative Maintenance (PM’s) on all processing equipment.
- Lead mechanical scope of complex chemical process scale-up projects including fabrication, installation, and maintenance considerations:
- Participation and mechanical leadership during Process Hazard Analysis
- Physical translation of P&IDs into engineered process systems
- Design and layout of modular systems using 80/20 (or similar) Unistrut hardware
- Estimation of project construction cost and support of project managers in tracking job scope changes
- Ensure operating areas follow all process piping and mechanical integrity standards (e.g. ASME B31.3 and site standards)
- Fabrication and installation of welded and threaded piping systems, including welding of both carbon steels and higher alloy materials (e.g. Hastelloy)
- Fabrication and installation of small-bore and large-bore compression tubing and fittings
- Installation, alignment, repair, and rebuild of complex, rotating pumping and compressing equipment including: centrifugal, gear, reciprocating, progressive cavity, syringe pumps and both dry and liquid-ring vacuum pumps
- Integration and installation of both electrical motors and process instrumentation into the mechanical layout of overall systems. (*programming and electrical installation knowledge is not required)
- Complete all paperwork in a timely manner; includes time sheets, shop papers, digital work orders, and alignment records.
- This involves computer records that need to be completed, including entering completion codes in the SAP maintenance system, and completing computer-based training.
- Handles and operates a variety of tools to complete the job at hand.
- Studies plans, drawings, specifications, and work orders to determine work requirement and sequence of repairs and/or installations
- Operation and inspection of mobile equipment such as electric powered utility carts, forklifts, scissor lifts, and articulating boom Lifts.
- Keep work area clean and organized.
- Walk on elevated catwalks over 15 feet high and work in confined spaces to perform daily duties.
- Works with a positive attitude and takes direction from others including supervision.
- Effectively communicate job status in a timely manner to Work Coordinator.
Required Qualifications that Enable Your Success
- High school diploma or equivalent from an accredited school.
- 1+ years experience in an industrial/manufacturing maintenance environment.
- Excellent mechanical aptitude.
- Ability to work in a team-based environment.
- Strong organizational skills.
- Solid computer skills.
- Good math skills (addition, subtraction, division, and multiplication).
- Excellent communication skills (written, verbal, and listening).
- Ability to read and understand equipment drawings.
- Ability to follow verbal and written instructions such as installation, operation, and maintenance manuals and procedures.
Preferred Qualifications that Drive you Forward
- Previous chemical plant experience or knowledge of chemical hazards.
- Experience with Microsoft Office suite.
- Experience in SAP (S/4 HANA).
- Related vocational or technical school certificates.
- Welding/fabrication experience and certifications.

- Will be subject to extended periods of climbing ladders and stairways, sitting, walking, standing, bending, stooping, carrying, pushing, pulling, reaching, moving, and the ability to lift up to 100 pounds.
- Presence of nuisance odors from chemical processes, testing facilities, or laboratories.
- Many areas may be noisy requiring hearing protection to be worn.
- Ability to wear supplied air respirators requires to be clean shaven.
- Ability to work in confined spaces.
