What We're Looking For: 

  • Prepare regulatory reports:
    • Discharge monitoring reports
    • Storm water reports
    • Dike drainage reports
  • Track needed certifications:
    • Continuing Education for Operators
    • Quality Assurance plan
  • Collect or manage the collection of effluent samples required to meet discharge permit conditions.
  • Ensure that the Wastewater treatment plant Operations and Maintenance Manual is up to date and followed.
  • Serve as the Wastewater treatment plant technical advisor for troubleshooting plant challenges.
  • Control treatment plant operations and equipment.
  • Analyze wastewater influent (including bench settling testing) to determine pH adjustments and coagulation addition rates.
  • Manage levels of materials in:
    • Retention basins
    • Influent pits
    • T-903
    • Effluent tank discharge rates and levels
    • Return sludge pit
    • Sludge tank
  • Maintain nutrient levels in T-903 biological treatment tanks to maximize biomass activity.
  • Operate Vacuum Rotary Drum filter system.
  • Manage inventories of waste sludge solids.
  • Monitor levels and manage transfers of Plant 1, Plant 2 and Plant 4 wastewaters.
  • Maintain activity and analytical logs.
  • Maintain equipment in the treatment plant:
    • Clean tanks
    • Clean filter bed
    • Troubleshoot minor maintenance issues.
    • Perform preventative maintenance as training allows.
  • Manage department manpower to assure coverage to maintain discharge permit requirements.
    • First level scheduling of department vacations
    • Planning staffing to accommodate vacation and other absences.
    • Provide department clarification and instruction of operating limits to assure permit requirements.
    • General housekeeping throughout the Wastewater Treatment Plant

 

Skills That Make a Difference: 

  • Possess a Class (B minimum, A preferred) South Carolina Physical Chemical Wastewater Treatment Operator License (requirements attached)
  • High School diploma or equivalent.
  • Ability to read and interpret technical documents
  • Ability to read and interpret meters, gauges and computer graphics which monitor and control the process.
  • Good organizational skills
  • Ability to lift 55 pounds and climb stairs/ladders.
  • Medical fitness to operate a fork truck.
  • Ability to communicate well with others.
