What You'll Do:

As Manufacturing Technology & Operational Excellence Leader you will hold responsibility for driving site Manufacturing Technology and Operational Excellence initiatives. You will be the site champion for planning and implementing Manufacturing Technology and  Operational Excellence strategies and standards to improve HSES, Quality, Cost, Delivery and Culture.

 Mfg Technology:  Lead the prioritization and implementation of plant manufacturing technology initiatives, including CapEx plan development.  Partner with the Site Leadership team (Operations, Engineering/Maintenance, Safety, Quality) to reliably deliver excellence through optimization of process technology, implementation of improvement projects and utilization of Most Effective Technology (MET). 

Operational Excellence:  Lead implementation of Lubrizol’s Operating System to develop a high-performing  work team with standard work processes and systems. These will encompass elements including lean principles, Leader Standard Work (LSW), Management Operating System (MOS) and 5S, etc., to drive a culture of ownership and continuous improvement.  

 

You'll collaborate with a diverse group of passionate individuals to deliver sustainable solutions to advance mobility, improve wellbeing and enhance modern life. Your work will directly impact the health and safety of Lubrizol employees.

  • What Serves in a technology leadership role leading the development and completion of site technology plans supporting global business and functional strategy.
  • Leads the Improve Process work stream to develop and implement Plant Specific Technology Plans in alignment with the Global Technology Plan including data collection, gap analysis, idea generation, prioritization, improvement project implementation, and review of results.  
  • Coordinates and leverages globally, the resources required for implementation of the Technology plans .  
  • Monitors and measures implementation of the technology plans at the site.  
  • Interfaces with the business and participating in business plan technology development. 
  • Provides coaching and direction on goals and plans for Process Engineers. 
  •  Ensures validation of project performance objectives after implementation  
  • Plan, lead, and execute implementation of lean processes and operational excellence initiatives supporting Lubrizol pillars: People, Enterprise Operations and Customer.
  • Manages all aspects of continuous improvement tools utilized by Lubrizol, including but not limited to: leader standard work, rapid improvement exercise, value stream mapping / analysis, A3s, and root cause analysis with corrective actions. Includes facilitation of meetings, workshops and exercises to drive strategic thinking and connectivity between teams to achieve results.
  • Manages all aspects of standardizing manufacturing with focus on Safety, Operations, Maintenance and Quality.
  • Manage coordination & prioritization of work with stakeholders: Production, Maintenance & Engineering, Quality, HSES, and relevant corporate entities. Provide leadership, oversight and accountability of work progressing to plan and to the desired results.
  • Interface and align work processes and initiatives with corporate Operational Excellence organization.

 

Skills That Make a Difference:

  • Bachelor's degree from an accredited university in engineering; mechanical or chemical engineering preferred. 
  • Minimum 5 years demonstrated leadership experience through managing people and teams and leading/managing cross-functional teams, preferably in chemical manufacturing.
  • Minimum 5 years experience as an engineer within a chemical plant. 

 

  • Demonstrated proficiency with implementing lean, standard work and continuous improvement programs and leading work system cultural transformations.
  • Proven record of leveraging technology, process optimization and work system development.  
  • Vision for establishing and maximizing value from process optimization and cultural excellence.  
  • Ability to manage multiple projects, priorities, and goals.  
  • Excellent written and interpersonal communication skills. 
  • Ability to interact effectively will all levels and departments at the site. 
  • Strong planning, organization, and presentation skills. 
  • Strong influencing ability. 
  • Self-Driven and goal oriented. 
  • Experience with SAP, Microsoft Office, PI, PlanView or similar management software

 

  • Lean Six Sigma Green or Black Belt (preferred)
