How You’ll Make an Impact
As a Safety Specialist, you'll be at the forefront of our innovation, partnering closely with plant teams to reduce risk, solve problems, and support safe, reliable operations. This role combines field engagement, technical safety expertise, and hands‑on support for site programs and compliance activities.
You'll collaborate with a diverse group of passionate individuals to deliver sustainable solutions to advance mobility, improve wellbeing, and enhance modern life. In this role, you will:
- Build strong working relationships with plant employees and contractors, serving as a trusted safety partner.
- Identify hazards, assess risk, and recommend practical controls to support continuous improvement.
- Apply OSHA, NFPA, NIOSH, and internal requirements to real‑world plant situations.
- Support and maintain key safety programs (e.g., Fall Protection, HazCom, Contractor Safety, LOTO, Confined Space, Electrical Safety).
- Lead incident investigations, determine root causes, and drive corrective and preventive actions.
- Develop and deliver safety training materials, communications, and documentation.
- Review, develop, and improve Job Safety Analyses (JSAs).
- Conduct field assessments and behavioral observations to understand how work is performed and support safe solutions.
- Utilize HSES systems and reporting tools to track performance and analyze safety trends.
- Assist with Industrial Hygiene activities and other cross‑functional safety initiatives as needed
Required Qualifications that Enable Your Success
- Bachelor’s degree in Safety, Environmental, Engineering, or related field
- 3–5 years of Health & Safety experience (internships, co‑ops, or full‑time roles)
- Strong communication and Microsoft Office skills (Excel & PowerPoint)
- Highly motivated, collaborative, and able to work independently
Preferred Qualifications that Drive you Forward
- Experience in a chemical manufacturing environment
- Knowledge of chemical processing or maintenance activities
- GSP designation or CSP certification
