How You’ll Make an Impact

As a Maintenance Technician you'll be at the forefront of our innovation, driving specialty chemical solutions forward. You'll collaborate with a diverse group of passionate individuals to deliver sustainable solutions to advance mobility, improve wellbeing, and enhance modern life.

 

The Maintenance Technician is primarily responsible to respond, troubleshoot and perform repair work on injection molding machines and other manufacturing equipment in a timely manner.  Additionally, maintain all auxiliary equipment for water, power, pneumatics, hydraulics and HVAC equipment.  Performs daily, weekly and monthly preventive maintenance on all machines and equipment.

 

In this role, you will:

 

  • Repair all building issues in accordance with clean room requirements.
  • Inspect, troubleshoot and repair all capital equipment.
  • Monitor, schedule and complete preventive maintenance of all mechanical, electrical, pneumatic and electronic equipment including capitol equipment, air compressors, HVAC, fire suppression and alarm systems.
  • Identify, procure and maintain critical spare parts inventory.
  • Facilitate the movement of equipment and furniture for relocation or reconfiguration.
  • Work with outside contractors to repair, refurbish or install building systems and equipment on schedule.
  • Respond, troubleshoot and perform emergency repair work on manufacturing equipment in a timely manner based on priority established by production management.
  • Report status of repair jobs promptly to Production Supervisor and Facilities Supervisor.
  • Complete assigned maintenance tasks to support process improvement, scrap reduction, new product development and other engineering-led activities.
  • Performed planned maintenance on extrusion, molding and assembly equipment including but not limited to injection and transfer presses, material mixers, extruders, mills, ovens, scales, testers and assemblers.
  • Support and recommend improvement to the preventive maintenance program.
  • Support flawless launch activities, participate in kaizen events, and provide facilities maintenance and installation support to complete lean manufacturing efforts.
  • Work closely with Operations and Engineering to develop and improve processes that meet customer expectations on cost, quality and delivery of new and existing products.
  • Understand and follow the SOP’s pertaining to the specific area.
  • Understand and follow the Work Instructions pertaining to the specific area.
  • Observe and promote company standards and policies on safety, quality and productivity.
  • Increase knowledge of silicone extrusion, molding, and assembly processes and equipment.
  • Understand Good Manufacturing Practices (GMP) in medical device and clean room environments.
  • Other duties as assigned.

 

 

Required Qualifications that Enable Your Success

  • Successful completion of four-years of high school, or equivalent.
  • One to three years of experience, or any combination of education and experience that provides equivalent knowledge, skills and abilities.
  • Experience with blueprints and schematics.
  • Certificate in Troubleshooting and Repair of Hydraulic or Electrical Systems (preferred).
  • Good understanding of pneumatic control circuit design, installation and troubleshooting.
  • Excellent skills in implementing effective preventive and corrective maintenance programs.
  • Technical ability to complete qualification (IQ/OQ/PQ) requirements, read and interpret hydraulic prints and electrical schematics, and firm grasp of electrical and hydraulic codes.

 

Preferred Qualifications that Drive you Forward

  • Completion of two years of college or graduation from a two-year technical college with an associate’s degree, preferably focusing in the areas of mechanical, electrical, electronics, hydraulics or pneumatic systems repair.
  • Excellent (written and verbal) communication and effective human interaction skills.
  • Flexible to change, and possess a high degree level of integrity and “can do attitude”.
  • Willing to work in a team environment and contribute to group goals
  • Able to convert units of measurement, add, subtract multiplication and division.
  • Ability to receive and provide instructions in a positive manner.

  • This physical demand level for this job is considered medium with frequently lifting 10-25 pounds. Exposure to lifting more than 50 pounds is rare (if ever).

 

  • During maintenance work, employee will frequently be exposed to sustained bending, stoop, kneel, crouch/crawl, reach above shoulders and repetitive bending or squatting with constant exposure to dynamic standing/walking and using hands to finer/handle or touch.  The employee will occasionally be exposed to static standing/walking, pushing/pulling (15lbs), floor to knuckle lift/lower(15lbs), knuckle to shoulder lift/lower(15lbs), shoulder to overhead lift/lower(15lbs) or climb/balance (on ladder).  The employee will rarely (if ever) be exposed to using foot/feet to operate machine.

 

  • The employee will constantly be exposed to working near moving mechanical parts with frequent risk of electrical shock.  The employee will occasionally be subject to, working in high precarious places, fumes or airborne particles, toxic or caustic chemicals and outdoor weather conditions, but rarely (if ever) be exposed to extreme cold or heat (non-weather) or wet/humid non weather conditions, travel on company business.  The noise level is considered loud (normal shop conditions).
  • The employee will be required to wear appropriate Personal Protective Equipment such as: safety glasses in the designated areas, hairnet/beardnet and jumpsuit when on the production floor, gloves when handling hot objects or solvents, earplugs when required and steel toed shoes (preferred).
