Summary of the Role:

This Position is accountable for daily production activities, ensuring compliant product quality with targeted volume and cost, keeping workplace safety and continuous coaching to team to enhance production capabilities. Also, responsible to drive an organization initiative to safety, operation excellence and human performance tools implementation and sustain a best practice

This position will have an additional responsibility of executing brownfield project in close coordination with project manager and fulfilling all statutory and regulatory requirement pertaining to manufacturing and brownfield project.


Responsibilities / Accountabilities:  

  • Lead and manage the workforce working in a shift.
  • Continuous guiding the team members comprising production officers and helpers to achieve the daily shift targets of production & quality.
  • Be the overall in-charge of the site during the silent hours, coordinate with warehouse & maintenance to ensure smooth functioning of plant. 
  • Maintain safe working environment & cleanliness of the plant.                                        
  • Keeping all the relevant data and record of the plant working during the shift  
  • Inspect materials, products, or equipment to detect defects or malfunctions.
  • ISO 9001: 2015 and NSF documentation and audit facing.
  • Implementation of human performance tools during day-to-day operations
  • Inventory management at plant level and audit-facing.
  • Risk identification, assessment, and implementation of mitigation plan. 
  • Training and development of operating staff 
  • Continuous training to contract workman for better performance of work and safety 
  • Co-ordination with various department for day-to-day work 
  • Holds the plant manufacturing activities, maintain the process parameters through PLC (Programmable Logic Controller) / SCADA (Supervisory Control And Data Acquisition) systems
  • Data entry in predefined formats and in SAP Systems
  • Arranging correct raw material at charging point, verification and charging of these raw materials
  • Field troubleshooting, visual inspection to detect defects or malfunctions and attend breakdowns
  • Good housekeeping of plant and equipment, sustain 5S at workplace
  • Achieving to shift production target
  • Following practices of safety and quality of product
  • Ensure layer of protection and safety interlocks all the time where necessary
  • Participate in process review, process validation and continuous upgradation as and when required
  • Identification and implementation of the measures for the plant, process, productivity improvement
  • Identification and implementation of the cost saving initiatives in the plant (CAPEX)
  • Coordinate closely with HSES manager to ensure safety at workplace
  • Ensure strict compliance of safety and other regulatory requirement partnering to manufacturing and ongoing projects
  • Ensure Management of change (MOC) for any change related to facility, process, technology, and people
  • Ensure compliance to work permit system and SOP 
  • Conduct regular trainings and ensure compliance to mandatory training related to safety
  • Regular review of plant uptime and downtime, Fulfill OEE (Overall Equipment Effectiveness) set targets
  • Work closely with project team for green field and brown filed projects
  • Coordinate with project team to ensure timely completion of project 
  • Drive specific assignment given for projects, operation excellence and HPI initiatives 
  • Measure and monitor performance of system against set milestone and meet expectation
  • Focusing on organization top priorities, develop short team and long-term plan and execute
  • Encourage team to identify the Hazards, Near-miss and report with specific tools with consulting line manager and HSES manager 

 

Requirements (Education, experience, competencies and specific job requirements):
Education / Certification:

  • Bachelor of Chemical / Bachelor of Technology in Chemical Engineering or Diploma / Master of Science in Polymer Technology

 

Experience and Skills:  

  • Minimum 5 to 10 years of experience in industry related to Batch operations, compounding –preferably solid / powder material handling
  • Good knowledge of continuous / semi-continuous process plant
  • Familiarity with ISO 9001, NSF, 5S systems (documentation, implementation, and compliance)
  • Well versatile in best HSES practices, Knowledge of process safety
  • Should have experience of 5S, Lean Management, Operation excellence, RCA (Route Cause Analysis), Risk assessment and Permit systems
  • Experience of operating PLC (Programmable Logic Controller), SCADA (Supervisory Control And Data Acquisition), DCS (Distributed Control System) and various automation system in process industries 
  • Desire & aptitude to be leader
  • Good experience of managing in multi-shift environment in an MNC will be an added advantage
  • Experience of recording the DATA in SAP
  • Good verbal and written communication in English
  • Computer Skills: MS Office
