ACCOUNTABILITY:

This role provides technical expertise to ensure:

1. Sound basic and detailed design engineering activities for capital projects that adhere to industry standards and best practices.
2. Innovation in new technology to improve process efficiency, product quality, and operational performance. Stay updated with industry trends and advancements in process engineering.
3. Perform all activities and tasks in a culture of accountability and commitment to HSES excellence.

RESPONSIBILITIES:

Safety and Environmental –

1. Lead process safety information improvement, such as relief system design, material and energy balance, design codes and standards, etc.
2. Participate in safety observations, focused process safety audits, PSM, FM audits. Support process safety and environmental incident investigation and provide proper corrective and preventive actions.
3. Provide technical assistance to Mechanical Integrity management. Review ITPM list periodically and ensure the correct priority of equipment per process safety. Link the layer of protection to ITPM plan.

Process and Engineering Capability –

1. Lead process design and detail engineering including performing process simulations, design calculations, sizing and selection of equipment. Review engineering documents, specifications, datasheet, verification of FEED for design and calculation.
2. Report out to stakeholders, including global and local management for funding request. Align scope changes with PM, engineers, operators, and engineering company on each stage of design.
3. Review and endorse engineering deliverables such as PFD, P&IDs, process datasheet, equipment specifications, control logic, HAZOP study, financial model, operation manual etc.
4. Participate in project start-up activities, including PSSR, Joint walk-down, and process training etc.
5. Provide technical assistance to the production and maintenance areas for equipment performance issues, problem solving, energy usage optimization, etc.
6. Drive innovation and encourage others to take appropriate risk. Identify process improvement opportunities and determining the specific scope of work to achieve the desire outcomes.
7. Apply knowledge of chemical reaction mechanisms to improve quality and process efficiency.
8. Monitor and analyze process performance data to identify areas of improvement and implement strategies to enhance process reliability.
9. Evaluate current process capacity and identify opportunities for capacity expansion or optimization. Develop and implement strategies to increase production capacity while maintaining operational efficiency.

REQUIREMENTS – EDUCATION, EXPERIENCE, SKILLS:

• Education Background:
  • Master’s degree in chemical engineering or a bachelor’s degree with strong industry experiences.
• Technical Skills:
  • Familiarity with safety or process methodology, such as HAZOP, RCA, FMEA etc.
  • Proficiency in process modeling and data analysis tools, such as Aspen, Minitab, Seeq, OSI PI, etc.
  • Rich engineering experiences, including project design and management.
  • Familiarity with unit operations in chemical industry.
• Others
  • Fluent in English both written and verbal.
  • Strong communication skills are required for cross-function cooperation and working with external vendors.
