The candidate will get opportunity to work in the development of new materials and polymers for medical market. The job will entail hands-on work, problem solving, and working in a team of other scientists and Engineers within LLS. Experience in polymer synthesis, polyurethane chemistry and polymer characterization is beneficial.


What you will do:

  • Develop a deep understanding of Lubrizol LifeSciences’ line of thermoplastic polyurethane technology. 
  • Perform structure-property analysis and apply the knowledge towards developing new products and applications.
  • Work with group of scientists and technicians on polymer synthesis, processing, testing and characterization.
  • Work on scale-up of synthesis from lab scale to pilot scale and then to manufacturing. Perform validations on new products in manufacturing. Write validation protocols & reports.
  • Maintain good lab/chemical hygiene and follow safety procedures.
  • Collaborate with others on various research projects and effectively share data/information orally and in written technical reports.
  • Maintain lab records and documents per ISO standards.


What you need:

  • PhD in polymer chemistry, organic chemistry, polymer science, chemical engineering.
  • Experience in polyurethane synthesis and/or processing of thermoplastics.
  • Experience with polymer based drug delivery systems, surface modification & functionalization techniques is desirable.
  • Experience with some basic polymer analytical methods, e.g. GPC, NMR, LC, GC, MS, DSC, DMA, FTIR, and optical microscopy.
  • Demonstrated history of scientific publications and/or patent writing
  • Problem solving attitude and attention to details.
  • Must possess strong interpersonal and communication skills.
  • Must be self-motivated & results oriented.
  • Fluency in spoken and written English. 
  • Must be a team player and possess technical report writing skills.
  • Proficient in computer skills such as Microsoft Office, Chemdraw, statistical analysis, SharePoint.
