As a Lubrizol chemical engineering post-graduate intern, you will work as part of Lubrizol Additives’ Process, Technology, and Sourcing department in Wickliffe, Ohio.  During your assignment, you will be assigned project work that may include:

  1. Help to define physical property characteristics for materials utilized in current Lubrizol products.
    1. Assemble known physical properties.
    2. Identify gaps and coordinate testing to fill any identified gaps.
    3. Characterize in Aspen Plus using pseudo components and the ASSAY feature.
  2. Provide modeling assistance on various processes using the Aspen Plus modeling program.
  3. Work with engineers from the Process, Technology, and Sourcing groups to gather information from literature and experiment relating to the chemical kinetics of selected chemical processes.
  4. Provide documentation and guidance for continuing and sustaining the activity which you have started.


In order to successfully complete this assignment, the candidate must be capable of:

  1. Gathering or searching for available physical property data in internal systems.
  2. Searching for physical property data available in the open literature.
  3. Coordinating physical property testing for Lubrizol materials.
  4. Estimating and regressing physical property parameters.
  5. Develop and evolve process models using Aspen Plus.
  6. Working with PTS Engineers to develop kinetics for selected processes.



  • Successful completion of an undergraduate chemical engineering degree from an accredited college or university.
  • Strong proficiency in Aspen Plus and Aspen Properties.
  • Excellent analytical skills.
  • Intent to continue studies at the graduate level.
