The Raw Material Sourcing Manager reports to the Director LZA Strategic Raw Material Procurement.  This role is accountable for strategic sourcing of a broad portfolio of raw materials at the optimal value for the company in alignment with business objectives.  The Sourcing Manager supports the US region and represents the Lubrizol brand to our broad base of chemical suppliers. This position is located at the Wickliffe, OH or Deer Park, Texas site.

Essential Job Functions:

• Responsible for the effective procurement of a portfolio of raw materials supporting the Americas region of LZA; collaborates with other sourcing team members to co-manage and develop the Lubrizol supplier base.
• Consistently demonstrates understanding of supply chain economics to enhance our competitive position in the market place.
• Works proactively with supply chain planning, strategic planning and production personnel to ensure uninterrupted inbound supply. 
• Develops broad insight into upstream markets and uses that knowledge to bring value and opportunities to the company.
• Leads the development of cost-effective, reliable and sustainable sourcing strategies to support and strengthen our current position in end-markets.
• Creates and executes sourcing plans for assigned raw materials including negotiating contracts, managing supplier relations, maintaining databases, and analyzing markets for key raw materials.
• Negotiates and identifies innovative solutions that support supplier consolidation, improved quality, delivery, pricing and lead times, in line with corporate and department policies, procedures, and quality standards.
• Functions as the raw material portfolio manager by handling relevant technical and commercial questions relating to that portfolio and taking appropriate action as necessary.
• Capable of leading regional procurement projects, establishing priorities, timelines, and deliverables, including global coordination of strategic raw materials.
• Explain cost evolution and outlook for raw materials to support commercial pricing management
• Maintain purchasing records in SAP and other electronic forms, as necessary.
• Adhere and promote compliance with company QHS&E policies, practices, and procedures.
• Respect and apply all corporate and procurement policies, procedures and strategies.
• Represent Lubrizol in a professional, legal and ethical manner to maintain the integrity of the Lubrizol and Berkshire Hathaway brands.

Skills, Qualifications, Experience, Special Physical Requirements:

• Bachelor degree in engineering, chemistry or other technical degree.  Extensive experience may be considered
• At least 5 years of experience in the chemical industry
• Fluent in English with strong written and verbal communication skills
• Must be able to relate well with individuals at all levels, inside and outside of organization
• Demonstrated analytical and organizational skills
• Strong computer skills including Microsoft Office Suite

Considered A Plus:

• Advanced degree in above disciplines or MBA
• Knowledge of LZA intermediates and their key raw materials
• ERP systems experience, including SAP and BOBJ
• Training in strategy development and execution
• Knowledge of sourcing/purchasing methods and negotiation skills
