This role is accountable for managing the Industrial Compressor Lubricant (ST) product portfolio for Lubrizol Fluid Engineering (LFE). This role will guide the strategic direction and drive the profitable growth of the ST business by delivering sustainable winning value propositions for markets and customers in North and South America.
What You Will Do:
Product Line Management
- Develop, communicate, and implement the regional product line strategy.
- Management of assigned product line (s), including:
- Ensure volume forecasts are consistent with market trends.
- Provide market management (product, pricing, promotion)
- Price/volume decision making, monitor product margins.
- Provide inputs for the annual profit plan targets setting (volume, revenue, margin)
- Lead the product positioning activities in support of customers’ business plan
- Management of assigned product line (s), including:
- Manage the product lifecycle of the product line in region from ideation to product launch, ensuring on-time delivery and profitability
- Provide input and implement product line complexity management plans for the region
- Support product development and commercialization excellence while proactively managing the ST product portfolio
- Coordinate with cross-functional teams such as strategic marketing, R&D, sales, procurement, supply chain and operations to ensure overall competitiveness and profitability of the product line
- Collaborate with Operations, Procurement and Supply Chain to manage asset and operational decisions in support of the product line.
- Collaborate with R&D to develop new products or improve existing ones to meet customer needs.
- Collaborate with Strategic Marketing Manager to develop a deep understanding of customer needs, market trends, and competitive landscape to guide product development and positioning.
- Develop product positioning, value proposition and messaging to differentiate the product line from competitors.
Marketing Communications & Marketing
- Collaborate with Marketing group to develop market communications, internal communications, and all promotional programs for the region
- Champion marketing concepts and techniques to correctly position Lubrizol’s strategy and resources
- Support implementation of marketing plans to generate awareness and demand for the products.
Sales Support
- Collaborate with regional sales team to drive activity necessary to execute growth targets and achieve the annual sales plan
- Provide ST product line support to Lubrizol sales and segment at key accounts with customer visits, presentations, training and commercial support for technical projects
- Understand customer and competitor’s value propositions, strengths and weaknesses and identify threats; convert market changes into opportunities for growth
- Provide timely technical services to sales and customers by working with the Technology Deployment team
- Assist sales team on contract management with valuable competitive product, pricing and margin analysis.
- Gain market info to guide new product development strategies.
Skills That Make A Difference
- Bachelor’s degree in chemistry, engineering or marketing, or equivalent relevant experience. MBA is a plus.
- 5+ years in technical, commercial and/or product management roles, preferably in industrial lubricants, additives or chemicals industry
- Commercial and marketing skills including product positioning, strategic and value pricing
- Knowledge of customers, OEMs, competitors, and the market drivers in the refrigeration market
- Ability to execute on strategic projects
- Be proactive and exercise high initiative
- Ability to establish strong relationships and to work within a matrix organization
- Strong presentation and communication skills in English (fluent)
- Willingness to travel (25%)
