Job Summary:
The Maintenance Tech Lead is responsible for the direction of skilled trades employees and their day to day activities in support of production processes at the Wickliffe Site. The maintenance tech lead reviews the work of the maintenance team to ensure safe and efficient operation of the plant’s mechanical equipment.
Essential Dutie and Responsibilities:
- Assign work requests to team members. Follow up on job requirements and ensure that procedures are followed and good quality work is maintained.
- Ensure that team members have required PPE and equipment to perform their job in a safe and environmentally responsible manner.
- Review each maintenance mechanic's work performance at regular intervals with the maintenance supervisor, including feedback for their annual PCMs.
- Communicate the problems and needs of the department to the maintenance manager.
- Coordinate maintenance work with Production to provide the most cost efficient service.
- Monitor quality and availability of equipment and services provided.
- Recommend equipment and/or procedure changes to achieve improvements in equipment reliability.
- Assist in planning shutdowns for maintenance and engineering project work.
- Perform troubleshooting functions in any problem areas and recommend equipment and/or procedure changes where applicable and provide input on root causes to failures.
- Advise on the condition of production equipment and recommend improvements for safe and environmentally responsible operation.
- Recommend maintenance or training to permit equipment to be operated at rated capacity and at optimum efficiency.
- Recommend equipment or procedure changes to eliminate system bottlenecks or to improve productivity and equipment reliability.
- Monitor new equipment installation as to serviceability.
- Review new projects for possible problems from an operational and serviceability view point.
- Provide professional services for the construction, installation, modification and maintenance of safe, reliable systems and facilities at the LZ Wickliffe Site.
- Coordinate maintenance activities, and other related functions for the department.
- Communicate operational status, department needs, problems, opportunities and priority status updates to Maintenance Supervisor and Manager.
- Additional duties as assigned.
Skills, Qualifications, Experience
- High school diploma or equivalent from an accredited school.
- Minimum (12) years of industrial maintenance or construction experience.
- Knowledge of basic mechanics, pipe fitting, metal fabrication, welding, lubrication, rotating equipment, compressors, shop tools and precision machine tools.
- SAP Experience
- Good verbal and written communication skills.
- Good interpersonal skills; displays professionalism; experience with conflict resolution.
- Good organizational skills.
- High energy; positive attitude.
- Dependable, honest and trustworthy.
- Microsoft Office experience.
- Knowledge of OSHA and EPA regulations.
Considered A Plus:
- Degree from accredited college or university.
- Previous experience supervising employees.
Working Conditions:
- Willing/able to work off hours/weekends, holidays, and call-ins as required.
- Work on ladders, lifts, pipe racks, and confined spaces.
- Ability to wear all required personal protective equipment.
- Work around chemicals, nuisance odors, and noise from operating areas.
- Ability to lift, kneel, twist, and climb.
- Must be willing/able to work outdoors in inclement weather.
