What You'll Do:
The primary responsibility of a Product Manager is to develop and implement comprehensive product line strategies to drive the long-term financial health of the assigned product line. The Metalworking Product Manager will own and manage the product life cycle, from ideation to commercialization, and coordinate with cross-functional teams such as strategic marketing, R&D, sales, procurement, supply chain and operations to ensure the overall competitiveness and profitability of the product line.

Key Accountabilities:
- Develop, implement, and manage product line strategies that align with Lubrizol’s corporate strategy.
- Management of assigned product line (s), including:
- Ensure volume forecasts are consistent with market trends.
- Price/volume decision making, monitor product margins.
- Monitor product performance and make data-driven decisions to optimize product portfolio, profitability, and market share.
- Assist Commercial organization on contract management with valuable competitive product, pricing and margin analysis.
- Provide inputs for the annual profit plan targets setting (volume, revenue, margin) and lead its execution.
- Pricing gatekeeper, Tier 1 approver.
- Management of assigned product line (s), including:
- Develop pricing strategies that optimize profitability while remaining competitive in the market.
- In collaboration with Strategic Marketing Manager, lead cross-functional teams in the development, launch, and commercialization of new products and ongoing product support.
- Manage the product lifecycle from ideation to product launch and beyond, ensuring on-time delivery and profitability.
- Collaborate with Operations, Procurement and Supply Chain to manage asset and operational decisions in support of the product line.
Specific Tasks:
- Collaborate with R&D to develop new products or improve existing ones to meet customer needs.
- Collaborate with Strategic Marketing Manager to develop a deep understanding of customer needs, market trends, and competitive landscape to guide product development and positioning.
- Develop product positioning, value proposition and messaging to differentiate the product line from competitors.
- Support implementation of marketing plans to generate awareness and demand for the products.
- Collaborate with sales teams to provide training and resources to effectively sell the product line.
- Monitor performance, make data-driven decisions to optimize the product portfolio and profitability.
- Drive product success and profitability, ensuring the product line meets the needs of target customers.
Skills That Make a Difference:
A strong product manager should be a well-rounded individual with a combination of technical, market, and business skills, as well as strong communication and leadership abilities.
- Bachelor's degree in Chemistry, Chemical Engineering, or related field; MBA is a plus.
- Minimum of 5+ years of (ideally multi-functional) experience within the specialty chemicals industry, industrial lubricant market experience a plus.
- Strong background in specialty chemicals, and understanding of product development processes
- Business Acumen: Good understanding of the financial aspects of the product line, including pricing, margins, and profitability. Ability to make sound business decisions based on financial analysis.
- Leadership and Collaboration: Ability to lead, motivate and collaborate effectively with cross-functional teams, including R&D, operations, sales, and marketing.
- Communication Skills: Strong written and verbal communication skills to effectively interact with a variety of stakeholders, including customers, internal teams, and senior leadership.
- Market Understanding: Strong understanding of the relevant markets, including customer needs, competitor analysis, and market trends.
- Technical Knowledge: Good understanding of the technical aspects of the products they are managing, including chemical composition, applications, and manufacturing processes.
- Analytical Skills: Ability to analyze and interpret market and financial data and use it to make informed decisions, including tracking and analyzing product performance metrics and market trends.
