What You'll Do:

As a Global Process Modeling Manager, you will be responsible for building and leading a physics-based modeling and simulation team for the Lubrizol organization. This team will apply first principals modeling techniques to our manufacturing challenges, opportunities for growth, and to understand the economics of our processes with minimal empirical testing.   This leader will also build the credibility of what modeling can bring to reducing cost of experimentation and improving Return on Invested Capital.  The incumbent will embed this way of working in our Research and Development function as well as our Capital Peer Review process.  The leader will work cross functionally with leaders in Manufacturing, Engineering, Process Safety, R&D and the commercial teams. You'll collaborate with a diverse group of passionate individuals to deliver sustainable solutions to advance mobility, improve wellbeing and enhance modern life.

 

What We're Looking For:

  • Build and maintain a dedicated team of modelers proficient in CAD, CFD and FEA Modeling, as well as Aspentech.
  • Assess requirements, and build and maintain a suite of modeling tools collaborating with Procurement and IT partners.
  • Develop and maintain an intake process for engineering and process Modeling requests for the global organization.
  • Assess project requests and Charters and assign resources to complete the simulations in a timeframe that is agreed with customers.
  • Quantify value and return on investment for the workload of the modeling team and update metrics monthly, while demonstrating continuous improvement in efficiency.
  • Benchmark this internal team with outside peers, in industry and academia,   and make corrections to ensure the tools and talent match the requirements of the organization. 
  • Engage with third party engineers, vendors, and software providers to understand how they may support overflow project work on a contract basis.

 

Skills That Make a Difference:

  • PhD in STEM
  • 15 yrs + Leading Modeling, simulation, and Analysis activities
  • Experience of CFD modeling using commercial software packages, such as M-Star CFD, ANSYS FLUENT CFD or Siemens Star-CCM+ CFD
  • Experience with Verification & Validation methods & activities
  • Experience with C/C++
  • Experience using Microsoft Office (including Excel, Word, Project, etc.)

Considered a Plus:

  • Experience of project management
  • Experience of developing and evaluating requirements
  • Knowledge of Aspen process modeling
  • Knowledge of process data acquisition, data analytics, AI/ML applications.
  • Global experience in the disciplines above
  • Master of Business Administration
