What You'll Do:

 

The Fuels Products, Americas business comprises products formulated for diesel and gasoline fuels as well as the aftermarket in North America and Latin America.  The portfolio is a diverse and sizeable business in need of talented technical people to help develop new products and provide technical service to our customers.  We have a role open as a product Development Manager in Wickliffe, Ohio.

 

The role involves developing new additive packages for fuels and demonstrate performance of these packages.   The development manager will also be responsible for representing Lubrizol Fuel Products technology at the customer interface in partnership with our commercial, sales, and customer deployment management team.  The role involves technical project management, problem solving, and an understanding of additive chemistry and applications.  

 

What We're Looking For:

  • Develop technical expertise and provide technical leadership for Fuel Products
  • Lead the development of new products and technology platforms for Fuel Products with an application focus
  • Developing fundamental knowledge to improve fuel additives technology
  • Interact effectively with operations, R&D, testing, commercial partners, procurement, and sales to support business objectives
  • Provides technical guidance, formulation development, and application problem solving support to resolve field issues; anticipate unmet needs of customers, OEM’s, and/or end users
  • Act as a technical consultant to commercial, sales, and customer deployment management communities
  • Develops plans, coordinates internal cross-functional teams and implements project plans in a timely, cost-effective manner
  • Build and maintain customer relationships to deliver products that meet or exceed their expectations
  • Understands market/customers’ needs, patent literature, regulatory issues and industry trends to anticipate new technical needs and opportunities
  • Collaborates with suppliers and other external parties on new technology opportunities
  • Develops and maintains contact with industry bodies, OEMs, key suppliers, and external test labs to remain knowledgeable on industry trends and newest technologies
  • Develops and effectively delivers clear technical presentations to internal and external audiences

 

Skills That Make a Difference:

  • Minimum of B.S.degree in chemistry, chemical engineering or a related technical field
  • A minimum of five years of technical experience in fuels, lubricants and/or additives, specialty chemical, or petrochemical industries
  • Strong problem-solving skills, and the ability to develop data-based solutions
  • Ability to work effectively in multifunctional teams
  • Ability to be self-driven and work under minimum supervision
  • Achievement oriented
  • Strong communication skills
  • Strong presentation skills to showcase technology solutions to a variety of audiences
  • Intellectual curiosity and willingness to learn
  • Ability to travel as needed
  • Fluent English oral and written communication

Considered a Plus

  • Ph.D, in a technical field
  • Knowledge and interest in engines and/or fuel distribution networks
  • Proven track record of effective project management and execution
  • Experience in creating and supporting intellectual property initiatives
