The Deployment Manager - Fuels Aftermarket & Performance Testing is accountable for working with customers to deploy technical solutions for new product commercialization and existing products as well as serving as technical single point of contact for assigned accounts, internal groups and performance testing in engines/vehicles.  The successful candidate should have a proven track record of interfacing with customers, managing multiple technical projects, providing solutions through a network of resources, have strong interpersonal and communications skills, and works well with others. This role will have a heavy focus on performance testing fuel additive technology to provide in-vehicle product claims.  The successful candidate will have chemistry knowledge as well as mechanical aptitude to understand the end use application of fuels or a willingness to learn.


Job Responsibilities include: 

  • Develops performance focused technical expertise for Fuel Products 
  • Develops fundamental knowledge to improve fuel additives technology 
  • Interacts effectively with operations, R&D, testing, commercial partners, procurement, and sales to support business objectives 
  • Provides technical guidance, formulation development, and application problem-solving support to resolve field issues; anticipate unmet needs of customers, OEM’s, and/or end users 
  • Develops and maintains contact with industry bodies, OEMs, key suppliers, and external test labs to remain knowledgeable on industry trends and newest technologies 
  • Develops and effectively delivers clear technical presentations to internal and external audiences 
  • Translate customer technical needs into a technical plan, and with the commercial team assess business viability/opportunity, then lead team to implementation any agreed project plan in a timely, cost-efficient manner documenting project outcomes. 
  • Consider health, safety and regulatory impacts of all actions associated with the deployment of Lubrizol technology 
  • Provide ongoing technical support to customers, deliver strong problem-solving capabilities and address any support requests in a responsive and timely manner 
  • Build and maintain customer relationships to deliver technical solutions that provide value for both the customer and Lubrizol 
  • Effectively communicate project status to stakeholders in assigned project areas 
  • Accurately schedule testing, compile and analyze/interpret data from laboratory and mechanical testing 
  • Complete timely and accurate customer reports, presentations, data and internal project reports 
  • Work with internal and external test laboratories to ensure sufficient resource allocation for business demands 
  • Represent Lubrizol’s interests by creating and delivering formal presentations to customers, OEMs, industry meetings and technical forums. 



  • Minimum of in chemistry, chemical engineering or a related field 
  • A minimum of three years of technical experience in fuels, industrial lubricants and/or additives, specialty chemical, or petrochemical industries 
  • Strong problem-solving skills, and the ability to develop solutions based on facts, data, and logical assumptions 
  • Ability to work effectively in multifunctional, global teams 
  • Ability to be self-driven and work under minimum supervision  
  • Achievement oriented 
  • Strong communication skills 
  • Strong presentation skills to showcase technology solutions to a variety of audiences 
  • Intellectual curiosity and willingness to learn 
  • Ability to travel as needed (up to 10%) 
  • Fluent English oral and written communication 
  • Effective project management experience, including project economics 
  • General knowledge of statistics (data analysis, confidence intervals, coefficient of variation)


Considered a Plus:

  • Knowledge and interest in engine design and operation
  • Creative thinker and willingness to take/accept risk
  • Familiarity with experimental design and statistical techniques, including design of experiments
  • Proven track record of effective project management and execution
  • Five years or more of technical experience in fuels, lubricants, specialty chemical or petrochemical industries
