Lubrizol is looking for a Vice President of Corporate Innovation to join our Corporate Technology team.
As the Vice President of Innovation, you will lead the development and execution of the innovation strategy and plan for The Lubrizol Corporation, a leading chemical company. You will be responsible for identifying new focused growth opportunities aligned with the overall company strategy, driving development and commercialization, and fostering a culture of innovation across the organization to meet emerging market and customer needs.
Additionally, you will develop and drive an innovation portfolio of emerging and new business teams to provide a stream of potential new opportunity options, aligned with Lubrizol strategy.
Reporting to the Senior Vice President and Chief Technology Officer, the Vice President of Corporate Innovation, will utilize discovery and insights to identify future technology platforms and product opportunities.
As a member of the Corporate Technology leadership team, you will:
- Develop and implement the innovation strategy for Lubrizol, aligning with overall business objectives.
- Identify new growth opportunities and develop business cases to support investment in innovation projects.
- Lead the innovation process from ideation to commercialization, working closely with cross-functional teams, including R&D and commercial teams.
- Develop and manage the innovation portfolio, including tracking project progress, prioritizing resources, and making decisions regarding portfolio management.
- Foster a culture of innovation across the organization, promoting creative thinking and experimentation.
- Develop and manage partnerships with external stakeholders, including academic institutions, customers, and suppliers, to accelerate innovation and enhance capabilities.
- Manage the innovation budget, ensuring resources are allocated effectively and efficiently.
- Develop and maintain strong relationships with senior leadership, providing regular updates on the innovation portfolio and progress towards strategic objectives.
- Stay well informed of current marketplace trends and technology that could impact the overall strategic direction of the organization and use this to inform strategic focus and priorities.
To be successful, you will need:
- Bachelor’s Degree in chemistry, chemical engineering or related scientific field.
- Minimum of 15 years’ experience in innovation, product development, and/or commercialization in the chemical industry, or related, field.
- Executive presence with strong communication, thought leadership, presentation, and influencing skills.
- Capable of managing and overseeing multiple projects at different stages and making clear and timely decisions.
- Strong track record of successfully launching new products and driving revenue growth.
- Deep understanding of the chemical industry, market trends, and customer needs.
- Experience managing and developing high-performing teams.
- Strong analytical and strategic thinking skills, with the ability to translate complex data into actionable insights and timely decisions.
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to build relationships and influence stakeholders at all levels of the organization.
- Strong project management skills, with the ability to manage multiple projects simultaneously.
- Demonstrated ability to lead change and drive a culture of innovation.
- Proven track record of proactively building external partnerships.
