          ACCOUNTABILITY

This role is accountable for understanding the issues, competitive landscape, and key strategies of Lubrizol businesses in Japan; acting as the point of contact for managers in terms of employment expertise, talent acquisition, performance management, employee engagement; and maintaining union relationships for Japan.

 

         RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Partner with Senior Director Asia Pacific (APAC) Human Resources to align HR processes, policies, procedures, and strategic talent plans to global / regional standards and unique business / regulatory needs
    • Actively identify and manage risks; develop mitigation plans to anticipate / minimize impact on Japan HR services resulting from economic, environmental, or business strategy changes
    • Support HR Business Partners (HRBPs) to capture learning / development needs and requirements within Japan; align local programs with global guidance / frameworks to ensure consistency
  • Partner with Senior Director (APAC) Human Resources, Center of Excellences (COEs) and HRBPs as needed to provide feedback on HR program communications and changes
    • Provide feedback to COEs for union and legal regulations for compensation & benefits negotiations, contract administration, etc.
    • Represent the local talent shortfalls, requirements, environmental perspective / plan
    • Partner with HRBPs to provide input and feedback on Lubrizol Executive Leadership Team (LELT) communications plans / messages
  • Manage Japan HR resources and ensure Japan HR services are delivered in accordance with local regulations and service expectations & outcomes
    • Provide targeted sourcing and recruitment for all positions based in Japan
    • Provide day-to-day performance management guidance to line management to optimize / improve employee or team performance
    • Identify need for compensation review of existing or new positions, review / document job descriptions, provide requirements to COE for evaluation, and communicate results to local managers
    • Facilitate New Leader Assimilation for new people managers
  • Partner with Japan management team in identifying people & organization needs and facilitating business leaders to implement the initiatives to address the needs
  • Act as HR lead for building relationships with union and managing complex union issues
  • Enable HR integration / collaboration with other Country HR Managers to share knowledge / best practices and drive continuous improvement

 

REQUIREMENTS

 

         Education & Professional Background

  • Bachelor’s degree or above
  • Minimum 10 years of HR experience in a MNC environment
  • Rich experience in talent acquisition, in particular HR recruiter
  • Solid hands-on experience in handling employee relations cases
  • Working knowledge of other human resources disciplines including talent development, performance management, compensation & benefits, etc.
  • Experience in Chemical industry, Oil industry, or Pharmaceutical industry is preferred

 

         Knowledge & Skills

  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills
  • Proven ability of building strong working relationships and being viewed trusted advisor by business leaders and HR leaders
  • Able to drive changes, with continuous improvement mentality
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills
  • Proficiency with MS Office - Word, Excel, PowerPoint, and Outlook
  • Good command of verbal and written Japanese and English
  • Knowledge with HRIS - SAP-HCM, SuccessFactors, etc. is a plus
