How You’ll Make an Impact

You shall be responsible to lead all the Occupational Safety, Risk mitigation efforts and handling Statutory Norms (MPCB, PESO, DISH, FDA, NMMC, Controller of Rationing, etc) related to government authorities of the site while propagating the corporate goal “Zero error, Zero Harm” at Turbhe and Taloja sites. You would also be leading execution – implementation of all programs related to Occupational Safety, Health, Industrial Hygiene and maintaining legal Compliance and site license management.


In this role, you will be responsible for:
•    Identifying and evaluating risks affecting the organization; developing risk mitigation strategies and action plans; monitoring and reporting on the effectiveness of risk management processes; and working with site stakeholders to assess occupational safety risks on site.
•    Supporting the design and development of all programs related to Safety, Occupational Health, and Industrial Hygiene, and ensuring compliance. Executing and rolling out these programs to meet effectiveness and timelines.
•    Interacting with Production and Engineering departments to identify risks, prioritize them, and develop short-term and long-term mitigation plans and programs.
•    Conducting independent and/or team-based incident investigations and developing and executing action plans.
•    Developing detailed schedules for agreed safety programs and interacting with related departments for rollout and implementation.
•    Monitoring and executing programs; reviewing and realigning them as needed to meet changing organizational needs.
•    Ensuring compliance with the permit-to-work system, PPE compliance, and contractor safety management.
•    Supporting personnel safety training and awareness for employees and contractors.
•    Receiving inputs from managers/supervisors on changes in compliance requirements (statutory and Lubrizol Corporation), reviewing the existing setup, and planning to address changes with a forward-looking approach.
•    Submitting periodic reports to concerned authorities as per license requirements; coordinating with user departments to compile data and information; and hosting surprise and planned visits by licensing authorities.
•    Continuously acting as an independent safety auditor by identifying risk gaps (human and property); leading site safety audits, safety talks, pre-job safety briefings, and similar initiatives.
•    Leading the contractor safety supervisor team in driving the site safety program.
•    Providing leadership and expertise in activities such as Job Safety Analysis (JSA), Pre-Startup Safety Reviews (PSSR), work permit systems, non-routine job risk assessments, training, and awareness.
•    Leading incident/accident reporting and investigations; concluding root cause analysis (RCA); implementing corrective and preventive actions (CAPA); and generating, maintaining, and managing functional data and MIS for the site and Lubrizol Corporation.
•    Advising Procurement from a safety perspective related to compliance and applicable standards; managing service providers for the safety function.
•    Periodically reviewing and updating studies related to hazardous area classification, safety audits, safety reports, site notification under MSIHC requirements, on-site/off-site emergency plans, MCLS studies, ventilation surveys, etc.
•    Operating within agreed departmental Opex; challenging and optimizing recommendations, action items, and requirements (outcomes of PSM studies/HSES programs) from a Capex perspective.
•    Obtaining, renewing, and maintaining licenses and approvals from departments such as PESO, FDA, the Rationing Department, and municipal corporations for both Turbhe and Taloja plants.

Required Qualifications that Enable Your Success
•    Graduation / post-graduation in Chemical Engineering,
•    Advance Diploma in Industrial Safety (MSBTE recognized) 
•    Minimum 14 – 15 years of working experience in process, production and industrial safety and handling of statutory compliances. Preference to candidates having base 2 to 3 years of experience in production area.
•    Expertise in RCA, WHY - WHY analysis, Cause Map analysis.
•    Industrial risk management for a Chemical / Petrochemical unit.
•    Computer Skills: MS Office, SAP.
•    Effective communication and networking skills. 
•    Fluent in English and the local language.
