Project Manager, Engine Lubricants

PURPOSE:

 

As a member of the Global Engine Lubricants Technology Deployment Team, work with the technical and commercial managers to advocate Lubrizol’s Engine Lubricants (EL) technology, in the China market.  To provide technical service support to Lubrizol’s customers in China and support for sales team.  To manage technical projects that resolve identified business needs within agreed timescales, budgets and quality standards.

 

 

RESPONSIBILITIES / ACCOUNTABILITIES:

 

  • Manage projects, involving colleagues from a range of departments and locations from initiation to successful and timely completion
  • Develop estimates and project scope (objectives, milestones, resources, and economics) independently
  • Accurately collate, analyze and interpret data from laboratory and mechanical testing
  • Provide technical service support for Engine Lubricants to customers and Lubrizol sales team
    • Day-to-day technical and product support
    • Training for China EL customers and Sales team
    • Technical presentation to customers
    • Assist customers to gain industry and OEM approvals
    • Prepare reports, documentation and other written information thoroughly
  • Work with the Commercial and Sales teams to translate business plans and commercial targets into technical projects for implementation to support the Engine Lubricants China business
  • Work with technology managers to develop and implement technical initiatives in line with plan for customers in China with the purpose to build technical advantage over competitors and meet customers’ and OEMs’ technical demands.
  • Build relationships to develop long-term partnerships with Sales and external Customers
  • Support EL Product Managers to manage Engine Lubricants product positioning activities in support of customer business plan
  • Coordinate activities related to quality/performance issue or customer complaints
  • Work with EL Product Managers and Sales to organize promotional events, such as joint seminar with key accounts or Future Directions.
  • Other tasks as assigned

 

REQUIREMENTS – EDUCATION, EXPERIENCE, SKILLS:

 

  • Bachelor’s degree or above in chemistry, chemical engineering or mechanical engineering preferred
  • Preferred 5+ years of technical service experience in Chemical industry, experience in a multinational company is a plus
  • Sufficient knowledge in additives of lubricating oil and engine oil
  • Technical skills to assist external customers and sales with performance or specification related queries
  • Fluency in oral and written English is essential
  • Good presentation skills
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills, strong listening skills.  Ability to communicate effectively to a wide variety of audiences (internal & external customers)
  • Experience with managing projects and organizing significant volume of work
  • Experience in prioritizing initiatives and managing customers
  • Demonstrates ability to solve technical and process-related problems
  • Demonstrates interpersonal and conflict management skills
  • A good team player and demonstrate ability to get work done through others and ability to work effectively with other departments and divisions.
  • Proficiency with MS Office – PowerPoint, Excel, Word and Outlooknone
