PURPOSE:

 

Product management of the Viscosity Modifier (VM) portfolio of products in China. Analyze customer trends, competitive threats and market needs to implement strategies and plans at the regional level. Feed China needs into the Global VM team and contribute to the development of the VM business plan.

Implement Passenger Car/Heavy-Duty Diesel (PC/HD) business strategy and plan for China domestic customers to strengthen market position.  Achieve business growth target via supporting sales on PC/HD market/technology expertise and product line promotion.  Identify market needs and support product mangers on API mainline PC/HD product portfolio management and development

 

RESPONSIBILITIES / ACCOUNTABILITIES:

 

Viscosity Modifier

  • Ensure alignment with Engine Oils, Driveline, and Industrial groups and sales team on VM strategy for China customers and implement the business plan.
  • Collect & maintain market intelligence in terms of competitive products, pricing and key activities, and identify potential product gaps and guide new product development strategies.
  • Defend EO OCP position in China and attack and grow Specialty VM position in China.
  • Support sales team on VM product line with customer visits, seminars, presentations, training and commercial support for technical projects.
  • Advocate market value upgrade with proper solution based on company focused products and promote VM as top of mind within PMG and sales.
  • Product Line Management of VM products in China.
  • Work with PMG Commercial Manager and Global Marketing Communication to develop market communications, internal communications, and all promotional programs for China.

 

Passenger Car & Heavy-Duty Diesel

  • Ensure the alignment with sales team on PC/HD strategy for China domestic customers and implement the business plan.
  • Collect & maintain market intelligence in terms of competitive products, pricing and key activities, and identify potential product gaps.
  • Develop clear PC/HD product positioning and pricing strategy, and implement the promotion plan for the China domestic customers.
  • Support PC and HD product managers on the development of product strategy and implementation in China
  • Support the respective sales team to build up and execute on customer plan, develop wining value proposition story for key customers and achieve the growth target.
  • Support sales team on PC/HD product line with customer visits, seminars, presentations, training and commercial support for technical projects.
  • Advocate market value upgrade with proper solution based on company focused products

     

     

    REQUIREMENTS – EDUCATION, EXPERIENCE, SKILLS:

     

  • Bachelor’s degree or above, preferably major in marketing, business administration, chemistry related discipline.
  • At least 5 years’ sales, product management or marketing experience in the petrochemical/ lubricant/ specialty chemical industry.
  • Self-starter and results-orientated with the ability to work in a matrix organization.
  • Able to lead multiple projects, analyze results and possess excellent interpersonal and communication skills.
  • Able to work independently, well organized, a good planner and team player.
  • Fluency in oral and written English and Chinese is essential.
  • Ability to travel within the region including occasional inter-continental travel
