ROLE:

 

The NBD(New Business Development) manager for North Asia(Korea, Japan) Engineered Polymers based in Seoul, Korea is accountable to accomplish business objectives through identifying new business opportunity in market and industries, delivering clear customer value proposition, and establishing a robust project pipeline and driving business realization for future growth towards greater results. This role will work closely with regional and global teams across different functions to further develop and execute the growth strategy and drive profitability in North Asia region. With a strong focus on development beyond core business, which includes industrial value chains and OEMs engagement for Estane® Engineered Polymers solutions, this role will own the regional innovation pipeline projects which include new applications and new products offering in collaboration with the technology group.

This position will work in close cooperation with the regional sales team, including channel partners and technical service teams, helping them to achieve their sales targets defined in the growth strategy. This role is also expected to identify commercial targets, share market  information update in CRM(Customer Relationship Management) tools, develop segment marketing plan, value chain analysis, positioning/promotional strategies, assessment of the market competitiveness with strengths and challenges, and value proposition tools to communicate with customers.

 

RESPONSIBILITIES:

 

  • Develop the regional marketing strategy and execution in alignment with the segment marketing strategy, including pricing, volume and revenue projection with the strategic plans for achieving the desired results.
  • Identify commercial targets, define tactics, and value proposition tools to communicate/convert to sales, providing strategic and pricing guidance to regional commercial team, ensuring continued profitable growth of the AP/NA Surface Protection market.
  • Develop a deep market understanding of target market sub-segments.
  • Develop Lubrizol’s basis for distinct value and competitive advantage in focus segments and OEMs.
  • Develop a thorough understanding of trends, technology, applications, and performance requirements of the target market, and key OEMs.
  • Establish and nurture relationships with key industry OEM’s and value chain members for advancing the segment strategy, maintaining intelligence and trends identification, understanding present and anticipated needs, and leading market-facing initiatives.
  • Identify and develop new target markets and customers through value and opportunity analysis, market and customer intimacy, establishing strong, collaborative relationships with customers, and taking the necessary actions to become the differentiated leader.
  • Lead the innovation projects and convert to commercial products. Manage regional innovation pipeline for the segment and work in close partnership with R&D to prioritize innovation projects based on financial projections and strategic fit.
  • Work closely with the cross functional team to launch new products, gain early market acceptance, and accelerate penetration.
  • Monitor regional market demand and define capacity needs and products to focus on.
  • Identify gaps in current capabilities and develop action plans to address them.
  • Maintain and foster relationships, promote alignment, and communicate regularly with regional business, and other key department leaders.
  • Coordinate with the regional New Business Development team in the identification and execution of key opportunities and projects.
  • Define and implement growth strategy in North Asia to be consistent with the regional and global strategy, adapt to the local specific requirements and customer needs to deliver the desired results.
  • Oversee key customer relationships; build strong intimacy with key customers and market influencers, let Lubrizol be a go-to partner in the regional TPU markets.
  • Keep up with market and consumer trends, identifying new opportunities and new routes to markets.
  • Coordinate across regional and global supporting functions, maintain an open and collaborative environment with regional and global teams.
  • Articulate and foster accountable culture and company core values within North Asia team.

 

QUALIFICATIONS & EXPERIENCE: 

  • Degree in Business or Chemistry, or comparable education in related sciences.
  • Prefer technical background experience in plastics and rubber industry
  • Knowledge in thermoplastics elastomer materials market in Asia Pacific. Ideally over 8 years’ experience in specialty chemical industry
  • Track record of achieve financial goals and successful business development.
  • Experienced in leading other functions team with commercial projects development . Excellent leadership skills and interpersonal skills to drive result in buying-in trust and motivation in a multi-culture, matrixed global organization.
  • Good communication in daily works with customers and internal team members.
  • Enthusiastic, entrepreneurial individual with a positive attitude.
  • Fluent English; other languages are a plus.
  • Willing to travel within the region and occasionally internationally.
