ACCOUNTABILITIES:

 

The Business Manager will lead Lubrizol Life Science (LLS) businesses in Korea, including beauty care, home care, pharmaceutical, and nutraceutical segments. Based in Seoul, this role is fully accountable for commercial performance, encompassing revenue growth, profitability, customer engagement, distributor and key account management, and new business development.

This role is expected to act as the business owner for Korea, demonstrating strong commercial acumen and strategic insight to proactively identify market unmet needs, emerging customer demands, and future industry trends. The Business Manager will translate these insights into clear growth priorities and actionable strategies.

The position will lead the Korea commercial organization and work closely with regional and global cross‑functional teams to shape and execute sustainable growth strategies, enhance profitability, and further elevate Lubrizol’s market position in Korea.

 

RESPONSIBILITIES:

 

  • Own full P&L accountability for Lubrizol Life Science businesses in Korea, delivering sustainable revenue growth and profitability.
  • Define, adapt, and execute the Korea growth strategy in alignment with regional and global priorities, while tailoring approaches to local market dynamics, customer needs, and competitive realities to consistently meet or exceed growth targets.
  • Act as a strategic market leader, continuously scanning the external environment to:
    • Identify unmet customer needs, white spaces, and emerging application opportunities
    • Anticipate future market, consumer, and regulatory trends
    • Proactively shape new value propositions, innovation pipelines, and routes to market ahead of competitors
  • Lead and strengthen distributor and key customer relationships, optimizing channel strategy and performance; build deep customer intimacy and strong engagement with key influencers to position Lubrizol as a preferred and trusted partner in Korea’s beauty care, home care, pharma, and nutraceutical markets.
  • Drive new business development and portfolio expansion, working closely with technical, innovation, marketing, and regulatory teams to accelerate commercialization of differentiated solutions.
  • Collaborate closely with regional and global teams across commercial, technical, supply chain, marketing, and R&D functions, fostering an open, transparent, and highly collaborative operating model.
  • Lead, coach, and develop the Korea commercial team, setting clear objectives and KPIs aligned with business priorities; build organizational capabilities, strengthen strategic and customer‑centric thinking, and sustain a high‑performing, engaged, and motivated team.
  • Champion an accountable, performance‑driven culture while role‑modeling Lubrizol’s core values and leadership behaviors across the Korea organization.

 

QUALIFICATIONS & EXPERIENCE:

  • Bachelor’s degree in business, Chemistry, Biochemistry, or a related scientific discipline; advanced degree is a plus.
  • Strong knowledge of the beauty, personal care, home care, pharmaceutical, or nutraceutical ingredient markets in Korea; ideally 8+ years of relevant industry experience with an established professional network and market credibility.
  • Demonstrated business acumen and strategic mindset, with a proven ability to translate market insights, customer needs, and trends into successful commercial strategies.
  • Track record of successful business development, including identifying growth opportunities, launching new solutions, and expanding customer partnerships.
  • Proven people leader with experience building, developing, and inspiring high‑performing teams within a matrixed, multicultural global organization.
  • Strong ability to navigate complex stakeholder environments and collaborate effectively with regional and global teams.
  • Entrepreneurial, agile, and resilient leader with a proactive mindset, strong interpersonal skills, and the ability to thrive in a dynamic market environment.
  • Fluent in English; additional languages are an advantage.
  • Willingness to travel domestically and occasionally internationally.
