Role Accountability

The information security consultant role is accountable for identifying Cyber Security threats and risks in China, understanding and supporting Lubrizol’s compliance with the China Cyber Security Law and regulations, providing insights and input that influence the global Information Security program and acting as an information security advocate to the business. 

 

Essential Job Functions

  • Understand and evaluate emerging Cyber Security threats, risks and trends in China and the Asia Pacific region, interpret them for internal impact and inform management and stakeholders 
  • Act as the “go-to” person for any China-related information security knowledge and guidance, and provide ongoing security support for compliance with the China Cyber Security law 
  • Lead IT and Cyber Security risk, threat evaluation and response for internal activities and security incidents in China 
  • Assist with project and technology reviews, provide security relevant guidance on risk assessment and appropriate plans to meet information security requirements 
  • Initiate and assess Third Party products and services within the vendor risk assessment process  
  • Monitor data flows and use cases to educate users on security policies and best practices to prevent data breaches  
  • Work together with the information security consultants in Singapore to participate in user security awareness activities for the Asia Pacific region 
  • Provision/De-provision application and network access per user requests 
  • As part of a global information security team, provide insight and recommendations to leadership 
  • Other information security activities as needed

Required Qualifications

Education / Certifications: 

  • Bachelor’s degree in Information Technology (IT) or related field

 

Experience:

  • Five (5) years of Windows-based IT experience with at least three (3) years of hands-on information security experience and technical support in domains such as identity, access, authentication, encryption, network security (WAF/IDS/IPS), information classification, system hardening, vulnerability and patch management, event log management, etc. 
  • Security expertise in the Asia Pacific region, with a concentration on China 
  • Familiarity with the China Cyber Security Law and requirements for security compliance including cross-border data transfer (CBDT) and personal information protection regulation  
  • Established expertise in tracking and analysing emerging threats, risks and trends in the Asia Pacific region, contextualizing them specific to company assets and personnel and informing stakeholders 

 

Skills & Systems:

  • Microsoft Windows-based operating systems. Active Directory, OU, Group Policy Object 
  • Understanding of ICS/SCADA systems and architectures 
  • Knowledge of basic network concepts
  • Ability to resolve issues via undocumented methods via research and investigation  
  • Experience in documenting issues and solutions to assist end user/co-worker understanding
