ACCOUNTABILITY:

The primary purpose of the project management role is to manage IT projects following Lubrizol best practices, ensuring on-time and on-budget completion.

The individual in this role will lead, oversee, and ensure the successful delivery and management of single or multiple IT projects within scope, quality, time and cost constraints that may be clearly defined or may require dynamic change management to deliver business value. The person in this role will have support from the IT Project Management office for guidance on project management and business requirement gathering tools, processes, and best practices. 

 

 

RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Analyze project proposals to determine timeframe, funding limitations and appropriate process for accomplishing project
  • Manage IT processes that align projects to finance and the commercial organizations
  • Identify and schedule project deliverables, milestones and required activities and tasks, direct and coordinate activities of project personnel to ensure project progresses on schedule and within budget
  • Provide leadership and motivation to project team members throughout the project life cycle
  • Establish work plan and staffing for project activities, iterations or phases, and arrange for recruitment or assignment of project personnel
  • Implement project communication plan, including escalating communication to and beyond stakeholders as necessary and in a timely way to ensure appropriate awareness of project status
  • Perform risk assessment and implement mitigation plans
  • Monitor project activities, escalating issues to obtain support from leadership when needed to keep project on track
  • Ensure that project goals are accomplished and in line with business objectives
  • Follow PM standards and procedures for project reporting and documentation
  • Adhere to procurement policies for acquiring vendor services, software licenses, etc.
  • Adhere to finance policies for project reporting and accruals
  • Assist with training and testing where necessary
  • Complete any project management training provided and collaborate on best practices with fellow IT project managers.

 

REQUIREMENTS – EDUCATION, EXPERIENCE, SKILLS:

 

Education & Professional Background:

  • Bachelor's Degree in Information Technology, Computer Science, or a related field
  • Minimum 3 years’ experience managing projects/business initiatives, with sensitivity and commitment to business problem solving. Experience in managing large-scale, complex IT projects with multiple stakeholders is preferred.

 

Knowledge & Skills

  • Strong knowledge of project management methodologies, tools, and techniques. Familiar with Agile IT project management methodologies
  • Proven ability to document and communicate business processes and requirements
  • Exceptional verbal and written communication skills; expertise in setting and managing customer expectations
  • Experience and ability in successfully utilizing "soft skills" or "people skills"
  • Ability to lead and motivate others; demonstrating empathy and knowledge of personality types
  • Effective influencing and negotiating skills in an environment where this role does not directly control resources
  • Knowledge and understanding of business needs, with the ability to establish and maintain a high level of customer trust and confidence
  • Experience with Microsoft Teams and Office 365 products
  • Knowledge of project planning tools
  • Professional project management certification (example: PMI certification)
