The Safety Engineer/Safety Specialist will support continuous improvement of the safety culture throughout the facility by executing strong safety programs and fostering healthy relationships with all site employees.

 

Essential Duties and Responsibilities: 

  • Develop and foster relationships with plant personnel throughout the facility
  • Manage site safety programs including, but not limited to, fall protection, training, safe work, hazard communication, contractor, and ergonomics
  • Lead health and safety expensed and capital projects
  • Write, review and update plant health and safety engineering standards
  • Assure compliance with all applicable laws and regulations of the Occupational Health and Safety Administration (OSHA) and Lubrizol standards and policies
  • Additional duties as assigned.

 

Skills, Experience, and Qualifications: 

  • Bachelor’s degree in Engineering or Health and Safety from an accredited school
  • Minimum three years of industrial experience
  • Strong technical knowledge of regulatory requirements
  • Highly motivated individual
  • Proficient in Microsoft Office Suite
  • Ability to work independently and collaboratively with a team
  • Strong communication skills, both written and verbal
  • Proficient in writing procedures and standards
  • Ability to work successfully with internal and external customers in a professional manner

 

Considered a Plus: 

  • Experience working at chemical manufacturing facility
  • Experience developing and executing a behavior-based safety program
  • OSHA 30 Hour 
  • Completion of OSHA 511 training 

 

Working Conditions: 

  • Ability to work in a plant environment
  • Willing to be exposed to inclement weather while moving throughout the plant during the work day as required
  • Ability to wear all required PPE
