The Mechanical Integrity Reliability Engineer is responsible for ensuring the mechanical reliability of the Painesville site’s fixed equipment assets and systems including pressure vessels, storage tanks, piping systems, relief devices and associated hardware (valves/fittings, etc.) by overseeing the equipment inspection program, providing recommendations based off of inspection findings and overseeing corrective actions and repairs.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities:
- Directly supervise and oversee inspection team consisting of Lubrizol employees as well as embedded contractors.
- This will include daily supervision as well as annual reviews and career development.
- Manage fixed equipment inspection program and provide recommendations for repair or other corrective actions as required.
- Systematically review and implement long term solutions to improve the reliability of the plant’s fixed equipment and eliminate unscheduled downtime.
- Develop and coordinate the administration of the plant’s Preventive Maintenance program, including the control of all data and the specification for the content and frequencies of work and inspections.
- Properly measure, test and analyze equipment condition and develop an appropriate preventative maintenance schedule to reduce premature equipment failures.
- Develop engineering solutions to maintenance problems, including ways of reducing or eliminating the need for maintenance through equipment replacement or improvement work.
- Assist with definitions and tracking of Key Performance Indicators for site equipment and maintenance teams.
- Coordinate with plant and production engineers in analyzing equipment problems, project work and determining solutions.
- Analyze the effects of preventive maintenance on equipment reliability and maintenance costs for evaluation as a basis for equipment design decisions.
- Prepare cost estimates and appropriation requests as necessary for project work.
- Prepares special reports as required.
- Maintains Asset Services plant equipment records.
- Review code and engineering standards related to project design requirements.
- Identify opportunities and implement solutions which lead to equipment and process improvements.
- Additional duties as assigned.
Skills, Experience, and Qualifications:
- Bachelor’s degree in engineering from an accredited university
- Minimum 5 years of experience working in a chemical plant environment.
- Subject Matter Expert in API and ASME codes
- Excellent communication skills, both written and verbal
- Good computer skills with experience in Microsoft Products
- Ability to self-direct and work well within cross functional teams
Considered a Plus:
- API 653 Certification
- If candidate does not hold certification, it is expected that the candidate will successfully pursue and attain certification once on the job.
- Experience with Inspection Data Management System
- Formal training or equivalent experience in the use of Reliability Centered Maintenance techniques.
- Experience with the following software:
- SAP / S4 Hana
- AutoCAD
- TrapMan
- Codeware Compress
- Prior supervisory experience
Working Conditions:
- Willing and able to work in all weather conditions.
- Willing and able to work in loud industrial environments.
- Ability to climb ladders and work at heights including in lifts as needed.
- Ability to work weekends and/or extended hours on occasion.
- Ability to wear all required PPE.
