The Material Handler reports to the Receiving Warehouse Supervisor and is responsible for performing the duties below.

 

Essential Duties and Responsibilities:

  • Remove, scan, label and put away drums, bag stock and freight from trucks (receiving).
  • Operate tow motor and pickers.
  • Use tow motor computers and scanners to pick for orders.
  • Data entry for receipts.
  • Occasionally stage drums for package shipments and load containers.
  • Learn DOT/IMDG hazardous material regulations.
  • Learn DOT/ICAO hazardous material regulations.
  • Learn air shipping regulations and requirements.
  • Pick and prepare orders for raw materials in receiving for use in production.
  • Perform safety inspections of area and equipment.  Properly record safety inspections.
  • Ability to write maintenance orders for equipment and area repairs.
  • Clean and maintain supplies, tools, equipment, instruments, storage areas, walkways, and roadways utilizing various equipment to ensure compliance with safety requirements.
  • Consistently provide superior customer service.
  • Additional duties as assigned.

 

Additional Responsibilities May Include:

  • Process and sample orders and create associated documents for package shipments.
  • Work in SAP to create labels, check delivery status and inventory bin locations and status.
  • Troubleshoot inventory issues in SAP and resolve variances.
  • Determine routing and contact carriers.
  • Work with drivers to expedite unloading.
  • Work with various departments (production, order handling, etc.).

 

 

Skills, Experience, and Qualifications:                         

  • High school diploma or equivalent from an accredited school.
  • Ability to understand warehouse management systems bins and bar code scanning.
  • Strong tow motor skills and drum handling experience.
  • Proven customer service skills.
  • Ability to wear SCBA\Respirator.
  • Strong organizational skills.
  • Proven customer service skills.
  • Knowledge of SharePoint.
  • Candidates must be able to follow Lubrizol department procedures and practices.
  • Ability to safely drive and operate various delivery vehicles, including fork lifts.
  • Ability to hear alarms and follow alarm procedures.
  • Demonstrate literacy and proficiency of Lubrizol’s computer systems.
  • Basic math and reading/comprehension skills.
  • Strong communication skills (written, verbal, and listening).
  • Self-motivated without the need for constant supervision.
  • Flexibility with schedule and work duties.
  • Must be a team player who will also assist other department team members as needed.
  • Ability to prioritize and multi-task while delivering focused results.
  • Ability to pay attention to accuracy and detail is critical.
  • Follow-up skills and the ability of quick thinking in a dynamic environment are crucial to success.

 

Considered a Plus:

  • Previous tow motor experience.
  • Additional computer skills.
  • Working SAP knowledge
  • Ability to identify opportunities for process improvement and act on them.

 

Working Conditions:

  • Schedule is M-F 8hr days
  • Will be subject to extended periods of climbing ladders and stairways, sitting, walking, standing, bending, stooping, carrying, pushing, pulling, reaching, moving and lifting up to 75 pounds.
  • Must be willing/able to work in a warehouse environment and occasionally outdoors in inclement weather.
  • Safely work independently and around others by following all required procedures.
  • Willing to work up to 12 hour shifts, overtime, and holidays as needed.
  • Maintain clean shaven appearance to allow for respirator usage.
