Maintenance Engineer

Job Summary:

The Maintenance Engineer reports to the Maintenance Manager and is responsible for working with Maintenance and Operations to identify equipment improvement opportunities throughout the plant. They will identify repeat failures, perform Root Cause Analysis, Design and Implement engineered solutions. The Maintenance Engineer will work with Engineering, contractors and vendors to design & manage equipment upgrades as well as assist in troubleshooting high level/complex equipment problems as they arise.


Essentail Duties and Responsibilities:

  • Work with Maintenance and Operations to identify equipment improvement needs and design/implement solutions:
    • Perform Root Cause Analysis as needed
    • Address repeat failures promptly
    • Identify safety and ergonomic improvements
    • Work with engineering, vendors and contractors or any other resources to execute these solutions
  • Update engineering drawings as required
  • Assist Maintenance and Operations in troubleshooting complex issues as needed
  • Assist project team on design, build and/or troubleshooting issues as needed
  • Manage projects in varying size and complexity
  • Support the planning of complex maintenance work orders
  • Support the rotating and fixed equipment engineers.


Skills, Experience, and Qualification:

  • Bachelor’s Degree in Engineering (Mechanical Preferred)
  • Knowledge of the following:
    • Welding, metal fabrication, equipment troubleshooting, rigging, stationary equipment repair, rotating equipment, rigging, millwrighting, pipefitting and layout, plumbing, insulating, reading prints and diagrams.
  • Prior Project Management or Maintenance Engineering Experience
  • Good communication skills
  • Experience in Chemical industry
  • Solid computer skills


Consideres a Plus:

  • Experience in with SAP & CAD.


Working Conditions:

  • Must be willing/able to work outdoors in inclement weather.
  • Presence of nuisance odors from chemical processes, testing facilities, or laboratories.
  • Many areas may be extremely noisy.
