How You’ll Make an Impact
As a Chemical Operator, you'll driving excellence from our production floor. You will collaborate with a diverse group of passionate individuals to deliver sustainable solutions to advance mobility, improve wellbeing, and enhance modern life. In this role, you will:
- Start up, monitor/operate, and shut down the production process within limits defined by standard operating procedures and training.
- Train and qualify in all defined task areas for the production area with rotation upon completion of training.
- Perform complete, accurate, timely recordkeeping as defined by standard operating procedures and training.
- Troubleshoot operational issues.
- Communicate clearly and in a timely manner within and outside of work group to ensure safe, efficient operation and continuous improvement.
- Be attentive to items requiring maintenance, write work notifications and contact supervisor.
- With appropriate training, perform minor maintenance tasks as established by plant organization.
- Perform daily housekeeping to ensure a safe, clean work environment.
- Perform all required safety checks as defined within department.
- Participate in plant-defined continuous improvement initiatives.
- Participate as defined by plant emergency response procedures in the role of emergency responder (24-hour technician trained)
- Learn all required aspects of SAP and perform required transactions accurately.
- Perform all activities in accordance with established safety and environmental control requirements and within the framework of the plant’s Responsible Care® Management System (RCMS).
- Participate in RCMS-related activities and provide input on ways to improve the system.
- Play an active role in Departmental efforts to improve the working environment to ensure the safety and health of all employees. Demonstrate an elevated level of commitment to these concerns.
- Operate fully within established quality systems. This includes proper labeling and packaging of all finished products, verification of Quality Lab receipt and approval of Certificates of Analysis (COAs), verification of product quality results prior to the release of product for shipment, and accurate execution of SAP transactions associated with each material movement.
- Apply technical and experience knowledge to problems involving process operation as well as materials and usage efficiencies.
- Identify and solve problems within the department and plant using Core Problem Solving techniques.
- Decisions normally made without guidance from superiors or others: Those within knowledge, experience, and training as a chemical operator.
- Decisions normally referred to superiors or others for guidance: Those involving changes to the process that are not replacements-in-kind, changes in policy, changes to department and facility procedures and purchase order approvals.
- Provides input into short-term planning for the purpose of meeting facility and departmental goals and needs.
- Provides input into long-term planning involving operation and strategic goals.
Required Qualifications that Enable Your Success
- High school diploma or equivalent.
- Familiarity and experience in manufacturing environment
- Clear, concise written and verbal communication skills
- Ability to plan, organize and troubleshoot
- Ability to lift to 62 pounds on a repetitive basis.
- Ability to manipulate 500-pound drums and 2000-pound super sacks with mechanical aids
- Operation of fork truck, track mobile, and yard-dog
- Proficient in basic PC software. Ability to learn and use enterprise software (SAP)
- Ability to learn and use Distributive Control Systems to operate the process. Comfortable working with and through computers
