ACCOUNTABILITY:
This position with Lubrizol Additives, reporting to the Sr. Director, Global Strategic Marketing, has responsibility for developing and executing the long-term market strategy for the Marine market. Operating mostly in the 18-60 months horizon he/she will own the Marine Global Marketing Planning Process, encompassing the development of meaningful value propositions, segmentation, value chain analysis, geographical and segment participation strategies, channel strategies, the analysis and assessment of Lubrizol Additives' (LZA) competitive strengths and challenges, evaluating the capabilities of the competition, SWOT analysis, reviewing the market to determine and anticipate customer needs and determining, in collaboration with LZA's technology group, LZA’s new and improved product offerings for the defined markets.
RESPONSIBILITIES:
- Development, communication, and implementation of comprehensive global marketing plan focusing on the Marine market;
- Constantly scan the environment, keep abreast analyzing industry trends and assessing business impact and be considered as the subject matter expert;
- Work in close partnership with R&D to prioritize innovation projects based on financial projections and strategic fit;
- Ensure all commercial and financial assumptions (Business case – NPV, IRR, Payback, etc.) are made upfront before committing technical resources and constantly test the assumption throughout the life of the projects;
- Based on market needs and gaps, develop meaningful value propositions, segmentation, value chain analysis, geographical and segment participation strategies, channel strategies, etc.
- Work in close partnership with the Commercial Team to develop and maintain a robust front-end innovation pipeline based on end-users and customers’ needs;
- Develop and present recommendations to Additives Leadership Team for strategic relationships where they make sense;
- Keep customer and industry (via the participation to conferences) contact and engagement at all levels of the organization;
- Identify innovation opportunities for Market positioning of products and selling strategies;
- Develop ideas and related strategies, work in close partnership with regional technology and PM to launching new products:
- Consider branding and channels to market as well as promotional campaigns;
- Work closely with product management to establish pricing.
- Present plans to management team for enhancement/approval:
- Develop market information, value chain analysis and potential market opportunity;
- Competitive landscape and market risks;
- Evaluate scenarios and recommend best options for maximal return on investment.
REQUIREMENTS – EDUCATION, EXPERIENCE, SKILLS:
Education & Professional Background:
- Bachelor’s degree, preferably in Marketing, Business Administration, Chemistry, Chemical Engineering or engineering related discipline. Candidates with an MBA are desirable;
- A minimum of 10+ years of prior experience in combination of Strategy, Marketing, Commercial, Product & Project Management roles;
- A minimum of 5+ years of prior experience in the Marine industry

- Understand competitive landscape and core competencies of our company to develop sustainable and differentiated strategies.
- Familiarity with the Marketing Plan Process in a B2B environment;
- Demonstrated track record of effective leadership in past roles;
- Financial acumen and analytical capabilities;
- Strong organizational skills; ability to manage and prioritize tasks/projects;
- Must earn the confidence of the sales organization;
- Proficiency in Excel, Word, PowerPoint.
