Application Scientist, Life Science

ACCOUNTABILITY:

This role is responsible for the development of new applications, providing technical support to key customers in the region, collaboration with regional centers and global hubs, and helping identify opportunities leading to new products/solutions.

RESPONSIBILITIES:

• Design and execute experiments to create new formulations, capabilities, and applications; work closely with regional marketing to develop regional innovation project pipeline, and with commercial team to provide technical support to customers and sales initiatives.
• Build connection with R&D teams globally and cross BU to create collaborative research projects and support cross-segment initiatives; work with global teams to leverage global expertise, adapt new concepts/sales tools to local markets.
• Manage the assigned projects by systematically designing the experiments, performance validation, developing the trustable/accurate data, and creating content sales tools to support business growth.
• Develop in-depth application knowledge or process optimization to support key customer projects. Present new-launch product/concept as technical expert to customers. 
• Strengthen technical capabilities by developing new methodologies, new practices, and implement global methods in the region.  
• Improve Lubrizol’s impact in both industrial and academic communities by presenting in tradeshows/conferences, publishing articles and web-based promotion tools, and contribution to IP etc.

REQUIREMENTS – EDUCATION, EXPERIENCE, SKILLS:

• Education Background:

• Bachelor’s or master’s in chemistry, Chemical Engineering, or Material Science. 2-5 years of experience in formulation, application, or technical service within the cosmetic. PhD will be a plus.

• Technical Skills:

• Solid project management capability and problem-solving skills.
• Good understanding of raw materials, cosmetic science, formulation habits, technical development status in Asia Pacific or global will be a plus.
• Conversant with MS Office application software. Others will be a plus.
• Fluent communication skills in English, both written and oral. Chinese language (written and oral) is a plus.
• Be versatile to adapt various cultures.
• Be adaptive up to 20% of time of travelling.
