PURPOSE:
- To manage and drive Lubrizol’s Small Engine Oil additive business including Motorcycle Engine Oil (MCO) and outboard engine oil and recreational engine oil in Southeast Asia (SEA), aligned with Lubrizol APAC strategy.
- To ensure an optimized and competitive product portfolio that meets customer, application and end‑use requirements in assigned SEA markets, in line with product line strategies and regional business objectives.
RESPONSIBILITIES / ACCOUNTABILITIES:
1. General Product Line Management
- Manage the Small Engine Oil additive product line within SEA, including:
- Lead product positioning activities for Small Engine Oils in SEA to maximize customer value and profitability. Review/approve key sales proposals and develop compelling value propositions.
- Define pricing guidelines and ensure proper price positioning by customer segment. Communicate pricing targets and rationale to Sales and monitoring product margins.
- Gather and analyze competitive intelligence and market demand signals. Sharing competitive analysis and pricing insights with internal stakeholders for better alignment.
- Providing inputs for annual profit planning (volume, revenue, margin). Ensuring volume forecasts reflect market dynamics and key demand indicators.
- Maintaining master product sheets and escalating foreseeable product supply or margin issues.
2. Strategy Development & Market Insights
- Support regional strategy for SEA by analyzing market trends, customer needs, competitor actions, and identifying actionable opportunities. Deliver clear and consistent messaging aligned with APAC regional strategies.
- Work with the Strategic Marketing Manager (SMM) to translate market insights into actionable marketing and product plans.
3. Product Portfolio Optimization
- Analysis. Lead product portfolio reviews to rationalize and prioritize focus areas. Identify portfolio gaps or growth opportunities, prepare business cases, and present recommendations.
- Execute new product launches in collaboration with Sales call in materials, value propositions, presentations, launch collateral.
- Act as commercial owner for new product development within the PAP stage gate process. Lead business case development, prioritization, and gate reviews. Collaborate with Technology Managers to guide product development based on customer-specific and market-wide needs.
- Ensure strong alignment with Sales, OEM, Technology and Marketing teams for SEA. Coordinate product lifecycle for regional marketing plan development.
- Coordinate with Supply Chain and Procurement to ensure smooth launch execution and delivery commitments.
5. Cross-functional Alignment & Customer Engagement
- Provide timely technical and commercial support to Sales and customers, in coordination with Project Managers and Technology.
- Deliver training and presentations to Strategic customers and industry seminars.
6. OEM-Related Responsibilities
- Collaborate with the OEM Group to support affiliates in securing or defending business with relevant OEMs. Support OEM managers in building long term OEM relationships.
- Collect vehicle and equipment market intelligence and translate OEM requirements into business and product strategies. Identify technology trends, unmet needs and gaps, and feed into R&D and technology planning.
REQUIREMENT:
- Bachelor’s degree in Mechanical Engineering, Chemical Engineering, Chemistry, Marketing, Business Administration, or related discipline.
- 5–7+ years experience in Product Management, Sales, or Marketing — preferably within lubricants, additives, or specialty chemicals.
- Strong commercial and marketing capabilities including product positioning, strategic pricing, and value pricing.
- Deep understanding of customers, OEMs, competitors, distribution channels, and regional market drivers.
- Proven ability to lead in a matrix organization and influence cross‑functional stakeholders.
- Strong financial acumen, analytical skills and business case development capability.
- Strong communication skills — both written and verbal.
- Ability to work independently, take initiative, and manage multiple priorities.
- Willingness to travel extensively.
