Purpose

  • Provide technical support to the manufacturing and technology teams.
  • Identify continuous improvement projects and provide process engineering support.
  • Investigate and optimise quality, processing capacity and production efficiency for the Huddersfield site for new and existing products.
  • Provide process engineering and occasional project management input for capital projects.
  • Trouble shoot production issues.

 

Contribution (Business/Technical/Support)

  • Process Engineer Expertise: Provide process engineering support for capital projects, commissioning of new process plant and troubleshooting of production issues.
  • Continuous improvement: Liaise with site personnel in identifying and driving forward continuous improvement initiatives providing regular inputs to Site Management and Corporate.

 

Dimensions & context

Related to his/her area of responsibility:

  • Manage the PHA programme – key contributor and facilitator.
  • Ownership of the MOC process.
  • Maintain process safety documentation.
  • Complete and report OEE data for Huddersfield site.
  • Provide appropriate process safety training to plant personnel.
  • Full Plant related support activities.

 

Communication / contacts

Related to his/her area of responsibility (Internal)

  • All Huddersfield Personnel – regular communication with Plant Manager, Production Manager, HSE Engineer, Engineering Manager, QC Manager, Individual Shift Teams – to resolve technical and operational issues.
  • Other Lubrizol sites/entities – Process Engineers
  • Blackley Process Technology Team – provide support/ consultancy for process engineering issues, support for new product introduction on to plant

Accountabilies

  • Support the manufacturing team to resolve technical and operational issues quickly and effectively.
  • Use and analyse production data to drive business performance metrics. 
  • Identify improvements and provide justification for projects in support of site goals. 
  • Liaise with site personnel in identifying and driving forward continuous improvement initiatives.
  • Provide process engineering support for projects and to the Process Technology group.
  • Develop and train appropriate personnel in the output from continuous improvements projects.
  • Promoting and demonstrating personal commitment to HSE&S through active and visible participation in implementation and ongoing use of the HSE&S management systems.
  • Maintain process safety documentation.

 

Expertise / Knowledge / Skills

 

  • Educated to degree level in Chemical Engineering.
  • Chartered or working towards Chartered status.
  • Experience of working in the Chemical Industry/ Process Engineering – circa 5 years
  • Experience of Process Hazard Analysis/ HAZOP studies, process safety systems and relief stream design/ verification.
  • Excellent communications skills and someone who enjoys working in a cross-matrix environment where they interact with a range of internal and external contacts.
  • Enthusiasm and drive to develop and implement fresh ideas, who can look at things in an abstract way and provide working solutions.
  • Proven hands-on knowledge of and passion for continuous improvement and problem solving techniques.
  • Able to manage multiple initiatives/ projects and communicate goals, objectives and accomplishments to a broad audience.
  • Strong drive and commitment to professional development.
