Instrumentation and Control Engineering Student Placement

Hazelwood, Derbyshire

 

The Control and Instrumentation teams form part of the Test Support group within Lubrizol Mechanical Testing. You will be required to take concept ideas, then by research and/or design provide workable and cost-effective solutions which if approved would then be project managed, built, installed, tested and documented.

  

What you will be doing:

  • Working daily with advanced controls systems software and hardware
  • Be involved with aiding the commissioning on new tests programs and installations
  • Gain experience in the design and maintenance on a range of electrical systems
  • Undertake projects to introduce new instrumentation technology to test cells and systems
  • Practical experience of troubleshooting and maintenance of electrical and control systems
  • Gain experience of engineering programs and software e.g. Dewesoft, Horiba Stars (Engine Testing Software)

 

What you will need:

  • Studying towards an Electrical or Control systems engineering related degree involving a year in industry, achieving a 2:1 or above
  • Achieved a grade C or above in A Level Maths or Physics
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills
  • Competent IT skills, including use of Microsoft Office
  • An interest in computer control systems or software programming would be advantageous
  • Have studied or due to study a module in control engineering would be advantageous
  • Be a lateral thinker with good problem-solving experience
  • Be self-motivated and able to complete tasks under minimal supervision
