What You'll Do:
As a Global Data Scientist, you'll be at the forefront of our innovation, delivering Machine Learning/Artificial Intelligence systems to enable product development, deployment, and manufacturing, along with providing data science and statistics consulting services to the Lubrizol technical community. You'll collaborate with a diverse group of passionate individuals globally to deliver sustainable solutions to advance mobility, improve wellbeing and enhance modern life. Your work will directly data driven decision making across the enterprise with the use of the right data, tools, and processes. Data science support greatly benefits efficiency and decision making in prioritization and complexity reduction.
What We're Looking For:
- Create predictive models by mining complex data with advanced methods to dive into intricate chemical data and build operational empirical models that will be used by the business in operations and manufacturing, as well as product development and deployment efforts.
- Support analytics systems including the development and maintenance of systems, processes, and algorithms: Integrate and enhance our analytics systems and tools which provide insightful information and enable our engineers, formulators, and program managers to make timely, data-driven decisions.
- Collaborate and consult with data scientists and subject-area experts on statistics and data analytics problems: As a member of the Data Science & Statistics group, participate in diverse project work in partnership with other departments throughout the company, including manufacturing, operations, supply chain, and businesses across the organization.
- Research and implement new statistical, machine learning and optimization approaches: Contribute to the enhancement of our modeling approaches and analytics systems and tools to enable timely, data-driven decisions. Research areas may include feature selection, modeling approaches, transfer learning, optimization, computer vision, and more.
Skills That Make a Difference:
- Bachelor’s, Master’s or PhD in statistics, operations research, data analytics, data science or closely related field. For PhD candidates, research in the areas of Bayesian modeling, optimization, or computer vision would be a benefit.
- Ability to effectively use advanced algorithms to assess complex data resulting in practical insights
- Capacity of writing complex code in Python and/or R
- Knowledge of machine learning or AI algorithms and other deep learning methods
- Training in Lean and 6-sigma methodologies is a plus
- Applied experience working in the chemical manufacturing and batch/continuous processing industries is an advantage.
- Strong problem solving and deductive reasoning skills.
- Creativity and curiosity with the ability to learn and apply new concepts quickly.
- Ability to interact effectively with a wide variety of individuals at all levels of the organization.
