As an Account Manager at Lubrizol, you will drive profitable growth across the medical industry by managing strategic accounts and developing new customer relationships across Lubrizol’s Medical Portfolio, including medical polymers and medical device applications. You will be responsible for developing and executing account plans, leading early-stage customer engagement to win new business, negotiating agreements, and collaborating cross-functionally to deliver differentiated solutions. Your efforts will position Lubrizol as a trusted partner and drive sustained growth in the medical market.
How You’ll Make an Impact
- Develop and execute strategic account plans for targeted medical customers to drive revenue, margin, and share growth.
- Identify and convert new business opportunities across the medical device value chain, including OEMs and contract manufacturers.
- Lead early-stage customer engagement and design-in / specification efforts to secure long-term revenue streams.
- Build and maintain a high-quality, qualified pipeline with clear milestones, conversion plans, and timeline ownership.
- Actively manage opportunities through the funnel by driving progress, removing roadblocks, and accelerating time to close.
- Build and strengthen customer relationships across technical, procurement, and executive stakeholders.
- Manage and grow high-value accounts, expanding share of wallet while defending existing positions.
- Negotiate and close complex, multi-year commercial agreements, optimizing value and margin.
- Drive cross-functional execution to win and deliver business by aligning R&D, regulatory, quality, and supply chain around customer priorities.
- Translate customer needs into clear internal actions and ensure follow-through across the organization.
- Operate effectively across a multi-country European environment, navigating cultural, commercial, and regulatory complexity.
- Deliver accurate forecasts, maintain disciplined CRM usage, and provide clear pipeline visibility.
- Analyze market trends, customer strategies, and competitive dynamics to inform growth strategy.
- Represent Lubrizol at key customer meetings, industry conferences, and trade events.
Required Qualifications that Enable Your Success
- Bachelor’s degree in Business, Engineering, or related field from an accredited institution.
- 8–12+ years of B2B commercial experience in medical devices, polymers, specialty chemicals, or related healthcare markets.
- Demonstrated success in both new business development and account growth, including design-in / specification selling.
- Strong understanding of medical product development cycles, regulatory requirements, and validation processes.
- Experience operating in a multi-country European commercial environment.
- Strong commercial acumen, including pricing strategy, margin management, and contract negotiation.
- Technical fluency to effectively engage engineering, quality, and regulatory stakeholders.
- Proven ability to drive results in a matrixed organization through cross-functional leadership.
- Strong project management and pipeline management discipline, with a focus on execution and results.
- Exceptional communication, negotiation, and relationship-building skills.
- Ability and willingness to travel up to 50% or more.
Preferred Qualifications that Drive You Forward
- Advanced degree (MBA, Master’s in Engineering, or related field).
- Experience with CRM systems and pipeline management tools (e.g., Salesforce).
- Experience negotiating long-term, multi-year agreements in the medical or specialty materials industry.
