Job Type: Full-time - 4 days in the office per week required, 1 day flexible.

How You’ll Make an Impact

As a Bioinformatics Data Scientist, you'll advance the future of computational science at Lubrizol by discovering, modeling, and predicting interactions that power nextgeneration cosmetic actives, natural ingredients, and biotechenabled platforms. You’ll collaborate across R&D, data science, and innovation teams to accelerate formulation design, deepen biological understanding, and unlock new opportunities in materials and life science.

In this role, you will:

- Build and manage virtual chemical libraries by integrating public molecular databases with proprietary collections relevant to cosmetic actives and natural products.

- Model skinrelated cellular receptors using tools such as AlphaFold and protein refinement workflows to identify binding pockets and biologically meaningful interaction regions.

- Prepare ligands for computational studies, including protonation-state assignment, forcefield selection, and 3D conformer generation for docking and molecular dynamics (MD).

- Apply MD simulations to refine docking poses, study binding modes, and identify energetically favorable conformations.

- Support the design of activeingredient libraries across synthetic, biotech, and botanical platforms.

- Evaluate and enhance data pipelines, modeling workflows, and decision-support tools using advances in bioinformatics, machine learning, and AI.

- Contribute to academic collaborations, publications, patents, and innovation initiatives.

Required Qualifications that Enable Your Success

- Ph.D. or master’s degree in computational biology, Chemical/Biomolecular Engineering, Bioinformatics, or related field.

- 2+ years of industry experience applying computational science.

- Experience building or managing virtual chemical libraries.

- Hands-on experience with protein modeling tools such as AlphaFold.

- Experience with molecular docking and molecular dynamics simulations.

- Strong understanding of data challenges related to complex polymer, surfactant, or biological systems.

- Excellent communication and collaboration skills.

- Proficiency in English; Spanish language skills a plus.

Preferred Qualifications that Drive You Forward

- Experience with structure–property or process–structure–performance models.

- Experience in HPC environments and workflow automation.

- Familiarity with agentic AI, generative AI, and open-source AI modeling tools.

- Strong interest in applying computational science to formulation design.
