Job Type: Full Time / On-Site
Shift + Hours: 7:00 am – 3:00 pm M-F, with 1 wk/month on-call after hours

 

How You’ll Make an Impact

As a Utility Maintenance Technician, you will collaborate with a diverse group of passionate individuals to operate, maintain and chemical processing equipment that delivers sustainable solutions to advance mobility, improve wellbeing, and enhance modern life.  This includes operating, evaluating Utility equipment and chemical processing equipment .  In this role, you will:

  • Safely operate industrial utilities equipment (steam, water, air, power, nitrogen, etc...) at the facility, based on departmental SOPs and individual training / experience
  • Safely perform preventive and predictive maintenance and repair of all industrial utility equipment
  • Monitor and adjust chemical treatment systems for boilers, cooling towers, and reverse osmosis systems
  • Lubricate equipment with oils, greases, filters, pumps, and other advanced tools (ultrasonic tool)
  • Inspect and functionally test of fire suppression systems to ensure panels, piping, foam systems, etc...
  • Lead and assist equipment troubleshooting mechanical and electrical issues on utilities equipment
  • Performs basic facility maintenance tasks including cleaning, sweeping, and occasional snow removal and salting
  • Operates or works with forklifts and other heavy equipment (telehandler, boom truck / crane, skid steer, etc...) 
  • Performs welding for mechanical equipment and piping applications, including SMAW (Stick), MIG, and TIG methods; equipment metallurgies will include carbon steel, stainless steels, and aluminum.
  • Assists with fabrication, construction, installation, and modification of new and existing equipment throughout the facility
  • The Utility Mechanic is also expected to perform other reasonably related maintenance and business duties as assigned by the Maintenance Supervisor, Site Engineering Staff and Site Management.

 

Required Qualifications that Enables Your Success

  • High school diploma or GED. 
  • Valid driver’s license
  • 3+ years’ experience in skilled industrial maintenance in a chemical plant
  • 3+ years’ experience operating, evaluating and maintaining utility equipment.  operating boilers, air compressors, cooling towers, fire suppression systems
  • Experience reading mechanical and electrical prints/diagrams/related for utility equipment
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills
  • Experience using math, reading, comprehension skills and problem-solving skills
  • Experience with  Microsoft Office suite (Word, Excel, and Outlook)
  • Familiarity with OSHA regulations including Lock Out Tag Out, Hot Work, and Confined Space Entry
  • Ability to follow departmental practices, procedures and safety guidelines
  • Ability to safely work independently and in a team setting
  • Ability to work overtime including weekends, holidays and call-ins

 

Preferred Qualifications that Drive you Forward

  • Associates degree, diploma or related certificates in industrial maintenance.
  • Experience operating high-pressure boilers and/or state licensed boiler operator
  • North Carolina state licensed Fire Sprinkler Maintenance Technician (Limited)
  • Experience ASME / NBIC code welding, boiler and pressure vessel repair, or AWS / CWI weld inspection
  • Experience with air-operated diaphragm, centrifugal, positive displacement, and other pumps
  • Experience with mechanical seals and seal pots for rotating equipment
  • Experience with predicative maintenance (ultrasound, IR thermography, oil analysis, or vibration)
  • Experience with basic electrical / electronic controls and instrumentation
