Summary:

  • The Supplier Managed Inventory Coordinator manages internal and external activities related to the supply of products for Lubrizol key customers. This role contributes to the Company’s success by ensuring that our customers find doing business with Lubrizol rewarding and cost effective.  Successfully serving customers depends on optimally managing replenishments, developing an excellent relationship with our customer contacts, and continuously seeking to enhance the Managed Inventory process. The exempt level Supplier Managed Inventory Coordinator not only effectively manages this role but is the “knowledge expert” in all areas of customer service.

 

Essential Job Functions:

  • Replenish inventory at customer location. The Supplier Managed Inventory Coordinator uses overall knowledge and experience in the use of forecasting tools, web-based tools, and the SAP MRP system along with a thorough understanding of transportation functions to optimally manage replenishment at the customer’s facility. Exemplary skills are demonstrated in the areas of problem solving, SAP knowledge and the cause/effect impact of transactions used.  Empathy and understanding of the customer’s operation are equally important to create customer satisfaction. The Coord Supplier Managed Inventory Coordinator has the customers’ and Lubrizol Sales’ complete confidence and trust. The Supplier Managed Inventory Coordinator is always accessible to the customer.   
  • Inventories at customer locations are reconciled monthly to SAP inventories. Supplier Owned Inventory locations report usage monthly. The reconciliation process must be completed and documented by the 25th of the following month or notice provided to Finance if the date cannot be met. 
  • The Supplier Managed Inventory Coordinator invoices the customer for product consumed through the Order Management processes. Sales Order generation and Billing are to be timely and accurate. The Supplier Managed Inventory Coordinator has superior knowledge of SAP transaction applications and is responsible for assisting in invoice issues in both the export and domestic customer service groups when called upon.
  • Relationships are central to success. The Supplier Managed Inventory Coordinator develops the trust and respect of Customers and Co-Workers through timeliness, accuracy, and dependability. Key characteristics for success in this role are exemplary attention to detail, promptness, and professionalism in all levels of communication, organization, and demonstration of thorough follow through to the satisfaction of the customer and Lubrizol management. The Supplier Managed Inventory Coordinator will monitor and communicate account activity to Sales and Supply Chain Managers as appropriate. Travel will be required at times and may entail personal time. 
  • Look for opportunities for Continuous Improvement throughout the Supply Chain processes. Having a broad view of the supply chain affords the Supplier Managed Inventory Coordinator a venue to constantly seek ways to control supply chain or process costs or efficiencies. The Supplier Managed Inventory Coordinator will also incorporate Lubrizol’s corporate, plant, and departmental goals into their supply chain process review. 
  • Processing the Month End Sales Close for Sales Orgs 0001, 0002 and 0003. This includes but is not limited to daily invoice generation and review, software system cleanup, ensuring that invoices generate in the correct fiscal period, and reporting the completion of the close to Wickliffe Finance. Their overall experience in both export and domestic customer service roles help facilitate the close in both areas.
  • The Supplier Managed Inventory Coordinator superior knowledge and experience will be used to lead in department Training. The training may be initial job training or refresher training, but the Supplier Managed Inventory Coordinator is the main lead in all training aspects of SAP and otherwise act on behalf of the Supervisor when called upon, except in personnel type issues. 
  • The Supplier Managed Inventory Coordinator will be asked to participate in Projects and Presentations. These may be focused on the Department or cross Departmental.
  • Portions of this role are auditable. The Supplier Managed Inventory Coordinator will assist and participate in at least the audits for Replenishment, Reconciliation, and Month End Close.   

 

Education / Certification:

  • Specific degrees are not required for this position though a degree is recognized as helpful. At least 5 years’ experience in Customer Service is required.

 

Experience and Skills:

  • Overall experience specific to order entry, production scheduling, problem resolution, and the Transportation industry are expected. The Supplier Managed Inventory Coordinator must possess exemplary verbal, written, and media related communication skills. Other key skills include but are not limited to:
    • Positive, strong interpersonal skills. Creates an atmosphere for a strong team environment.
    • Superior skills to multitask, prioritize, organize, and follow through.
    • Creates and takes initiative in all aspects whether internal or external needs arise.
    • Is professional and works in a courteous manner.

 

Supervisory Responsibility:

  • Acts on behalf of supervisor when called upon, except for personnel issues.    

 

Empowerment & Decision Making:

  • To be successful in the Supplier Managed Inventory Coordinator role, the person must be able to act independently knowing when supervision, plant or corporate management needs to be included in the decision-making process. The person must be able to develop and implement a long-term strategy to manage the Supply Chain replenishment plan while being able to effectively resolve supply disruptions. This role entails being a “mini” account manager and as such is required to monitor, maintain, and control our best interests and communication considering the customer’s requirements.
