What You'll Do: 

As a Shift Operator, you'll be at the forefront of our innovation by operating equipment and/or areas in the unit, using knowledge and experience to operate in a safe, environmental responsible, and efficient manner. In addition, the Shift Operator will execute and contribute to the unit work activity task list

 

What We're Looking For:

  • Uses operating discipline, procedures and practices to ensure safe operation of plant assets. Updates operating discipline procedures as necessary.
  • Performs rounds & field quality testing to check process equipment, product quality, and monitor process conditions and control systems.
  • Performs tasks assigned to operations.
  • Uses basic troubleshooting and diagnostic skills to resolve process deviation and upset conditions.
  • Performs simple problem solving and participates in improving daily work.
  • Follows the standard work processes and practices as outlined by the site and/or unit.
  • Understands and delivers what is expected of operators when an unplanned event occurs that will trigger a root cause investigation.
  • Participates in root cause investigations as requested.
  • Trains new unit operating personnel and shares operating knowledge for their development.
  • Ensures operations performance within their assigned responsibility align with plant and business goals.
  • Makes improvements in unit operating discipline and performance based on personal knowledge and skills.
  • Monitors key unit metrics to ensure plant performance remains on track to achieve unit and business goals.
  • Accurately and completely records asset utilization losses.
  • Develops the skills and competencies required to perform operator care for the plant activities.
  • Utilizes the appropriate operating discipline and safe work practices required when performing operator care for the plant activities.
  • Follows the Procedure Use Policy of the unit and/or site.
  • Additional duties as assigned. 

 

Skills That Make a Difference: 

  • High School Diploma or equivalent from an accredited school.
  • Successful completion of initial behavioral screening test.
  • Basic mechanical aptitude.
  • Basic math, reading, and computer skills. 
  • Continuous process experience considered a plus.
  • Excellent communication (verbal and written) and collaboration skills to work with varying departments
  • Considered a plus:
    • Certificate of Process Technology.
    • Polymer production experience.
    • SAP and DeltaV process knowledge.
    • Leadership and technical skills.

 

Working Conditions:

  • Available to work a rotating 12- hour shift schedule (nights, weekends, holidays.)
  • Willing/able to work outdoors in inclement weather (rain, hot/cold environment.)
  • Must be able to pass a manual dexterity exam; lift a minimum of 50 lbs., climb ladders without fear of heights, bend, pull, push.
  • Work with industrial equipment using proper PPE and safety procedures.
  • Maintain clean shaven appearance to allow for respirator usage.
