Shift + Hours: 4/10s (four 10-hour shifts). Occasional periods may require a standard 5/8 schedule (five 8-hour shifts) based on project needs.
How You’ll Make an Impact
As a Maintenance Project Manager, you'll be at the forefront of our innovation, driving/leading and executing maintenance-related projects (both capital & expense) across the Deer Park, Texas site, from planning through completion. The Maintenance Project Manager will also be expected to manage mid-size Turnaround (TARs) or provide tactical service to specific areas of the plant for an extended time. This opportunity ensures work activities are delivered safely, efficiently, and within budget, while minimizing operational disruptions. It requires strong coordination with operations, maintenance teams, procurement, engineers and external contractors. The ideal candidate brings practical experience in maintenance engineering, a hands-on approach to problem-solving, and an entrepreneurial mindset to drive continuous improvement and asset reliability. In this role, you will:
- Lead a multidisciplinary team across maintenance, operations, reliability, and business functions.
- Support site’s SPCC (Spill Prevention, Control, and Countermeasure) plans as it relates to tank readiness, inspections and repairs – critical initiative for plant compliance.
- Foster a culture of safety, accountability, and continuous improvement.
- Manage contractor relationships to ensure service quality and value.
- Ensure maintenance projects comply with all health, safety, and environmental standards, leading safety reviews and addressing concerns proactively.
- Follow the Capital approval process and manage maintenance project budgets.
- Optimize the use of personnel, equipment, and materials to achieve project goals.
- Define scope, schedule, and deliverables for maintenance projects.
- Oversee project execution from design review through implementation and commissioning.
- Coordinate with operations, supply chain, and other departments to minimize downtime and disruption.
- Ensure maintenance solutions meet engineering standards and operational needs.
- Provide hands-on support for troubleshooting and technical issue resolution.
- Maintain accurate records of project progress, costs, and milestones.
- Report regularly to senior management and stakeholders.
- Identify risks and implement mitigation strategies aligned with business value.
- Ensure quality assurance through inspections and testing of maintenance work.
- Identify and lead initiatives to improve maintenance processes, asset reliability, and implement best practices and innovative solutions.
Required Qualifications that Enables Your Success
- High school diploma.
- 10+ years of combined experience in planning and construction management, and leading maintenance TARs (turnarounds).
- Ability to make significant TAR and Project Management decisions with little supervision.
- Work closely with Mechanical Integrity and Reliability teams to ensure compliance and improved reliability.
- A safety-first mindset and history of driving safety improvements.
- Proven ability to effectively lead, influence and build high performing teams.
- Strong structured problem-solving skills and experience in the application of continuous improvement tools.
- General industry knowledge of fixed and rotating equipment to ensure proper installations and reliability.
- Drive to continuously learn and challenge status quo.
- Effective interpersonal skills and relationship building.
- Ability to learn quickly, adapt and grow from adversity.
- Excellent communication skills where an audience outside of this work environment can understand.
- Flexibility and commitment to work outside of normal work hours as required.
- Working knowledge of Microsoft Word, Microsoft Excel, Microsoft PowerPoint, and Microsoft Outlook, SAP S/4, Primavera P6.
- Other similar duties as directed by departmental management.
