Environmental Waste Specialist

 

We currently have the following opportunity for an Environmental Waste Specialist in the HSES (Health, Safety, Environmental, and Security) Department at our Texas Plants Facilities (Deer Park, TX).   

 

Duties/Responsibilities:

  • Assure that the Texas Plant facilities are in compliance with Federal, State, and Local waste environmental rules and regulations
  • Responsible for manifest review and input into EMIS waste module, manifest return reconciliation, and monthly EMIS/manifest verification  
  • Prepare external and internal waste reports including but not limited to TX Annual Waste Summary, TX Pollution Prevention (P2), Notice of Registration (NOR) updates, Generator Fees, Monthly Waste Accrual Reports, and other required STEERS input
  • Review and recordkeeping of hazardous waste tank inspection logs
  • Create purchase requisitions in SAP, review invoices for approval, and oversee waste PO spending/budgets 
  • Support logistics for hazardous and non-hazardous transportation that include waste sampling and analysis/recertification, profiling, manifesting, and waste invoicing
  • Develop waste management procedures and guidelines in accordance with requirements and provide training of plant personnel
  • Collaborate with waste manager to identify potential cost reductions and program improvements
  • Maintain corporate reporting requirements for waste program
  • Review MOCs and project work for waste program impacts, cost control and efficiencies; Implement and coordinate plant project waste related operations.
  • Provide on call plant support for waste related spill response and reporting requirements. Support spill cleanup and oversight
  • Collaborate with plant personnel on changes that could impact waste operations, regulatory requirements, program management, etc.
  • Support oversight of day-to-day operations of in-plant waste contractors
  • Additional duties include tasks associated with groundwater management and remediation

 

Skills, Qualifications, Experience, Special Physical Requirements:

  • BS or higher degree in Environmental Engineering or Sciences, Chemical Engineering, or related technical discipline
  • Minimum 2 years of experience supporting RCRA waste transportation, disposal, regulatory compliance and permitting programs
  • Must possess strong Microsoft Excel and PowerPoint specifically Microsoft suite
  • Effective written and verbal interpersonal and communication skills
  • Able to lift 50 pounds, climb a 15’ ladder with cage, and walk up and down 3 flights of stairs

 

Considered A Plus:

  • Experience in chemical manufacturing process plant
  • Certified 40-Hour HAZWOPER
  • SAP knowledge
