Overview:
- Responsible for providing the technical and professional support in the development and implementation of the facility’s health and safety (HS) and Responsible Care® programs and initiatives to assure compliance with applicable laws and regulations and corporate and industry standards consistent with Lubrizol’s Corporate Philosophy, and Health, Safety, Environment and Security policy.

This is a professional with training and/or education in the HS field. The Health & Safety Specialist is responsible for assisting in the development and implementation of programs and initiatives in HS compliance and management and RCMS/ISO programs. This opportunity may start at entry level but may also cover the individual with considerable experience implementing programs relative to the subject matter. The Health & Safety Specialist is able to provide knowledge and support to line management to achieve the over-arching goal of regulatory compliance and continuous improvement. The Health & Safety Specialist requires working closely with employees and management on all levels of the organization. This opportunity may go to a senior level position
Essential Duties & Responsibilities:
- Development and implement through line management of HS programs and initiatives in support of the facility’s compliance programs, Responsible Care Management System, and facility and corporate goals.
- Develop and implement hazard identification, communication, and mitigation plans.
- Develop and implement plans to assure compliance with applicable laws, regulation, and corporate standards.
- Active walking of facilities and clean room environments with emphasis on employee engagement and attention to health and safety opportunities for improvement.
- Take the lead on specific projects or programs as assigned such as, but not limited to, process ergonomics, energy isolation, industrial hygiene monitoring, 5S, etc.
- Provide the knowledge and support necessary to promote the safety initiative
Skills, Qualifications, Experience Requirements:
- Bachelor’s degree in science, engineering, occupational health, or related major.
- Two to three years of related experience, preferably in a manufacturing environment.
- Ability to take direction and work independently.
- Ability to work successfully with internal and external customers in a professional manner.
