Lubrizol Advanced Materials has the following opportunity for a Research Scientist, Ink Receptive Technologies available at our Brecksville, OH location.


What you will do:

  • Lead the development effort for new component and formulated systems in the field of Ink Receptive Coating Technologies in order to deliver business growth targets in digital printing markets.
  • Expand the scope of understanding of digital printing systems through the evaluation of structure-property relationships between components and formulations.
  • Establish end use requirements with target customers and develop new applications test methods to complete project milestones through stage-gate processes.
  • Work seamlessly as a member of cross-functional project teams including; synthesis, marketing and process technology for new product scale up, product improvements and quality metrics.
  • Maintain records of experiments, results and conclusions and provide progress updates through the regular issuance of written and verbal reports.


What you need:

  • Bachelor’s degree in Chemistry, Chemical Engineering, Polymer Science or a related field from an accredited college or university.   Advanced degree (MS or PHD) desirable, will consider candidates with extensive experience in the formulation of digital imaging products.
  • Broad knowledge of manufacturing processes and equipment used for aqueous coatings in a range of high end applications.
  • Able to develop structure-property relationships of components and complex formulations with a focus on innovation.
  • Demonstrated success in launching new products in the field of digital printing
  • Excellent organizational, communication and project management skills.
  • Self-starter, highly motivated toward achievements, results oriented.
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills
  • Able to travel to support customer trials/tradeshows/conferences up to 3 trips per year



  • Knowledge in digital inks including dye and pigment inkjet inks
  • Experience with printing systems for textiles, packaging and filmic
  • Advanced knowledge of the polymer chemistry of resins and binders used in digital printing applications
  • Utilization of Design of Experiments (DOE)
  • Understanding of the aspects of intellectual property as they pertain to R&D
