How You’ll Make an Impact
As an HSES Specialist you'll be at the forefront of our innovation, driving but supporting a safe, compliant, and environmentally responsible work environment my driving key health, safety, and environmental programs. This role partners with operations and leadership to promote safe work practices, manage contractor and employee safety programs, support environmental and hazardous waste requirements, and drive continuous improvement in HSE performance. In this role, you will:
- Promote a strong safety culture by actively engaging employees, supervisors, and leadership.
- Adhere to all RC 14001 and HSES procedures to ensure compliance with regulatory and company requirements.
- Ensure timely reporting of accidents, injuries, near misses, spills, and releases in accordance with site protocols.
- Complete all required safety and compliance training within assigned timeframes.
- Perform other duties as assigned by the HSES Manager.
- Lead and manage the site Industrial Hygiene program, including exposure monitoring and compliance activities related to benzene, dust, and noise.
- Own and administer the facility ergonomics program, including assessments, improvements, and employee guidance.
- Conduct routine Job Safety Analyses (JSAs) and on-the-floor safety observations to identify hazards and recommend corrective actions.
- Plan, coordinate, and facilitate plant-wide safety meetings across multiple shifts.
- Ensure safety equipment and systems are properly specified, maintained, and available for use.
- Create, maintain, and continuously improve the facility Lockout/Tagout (LOTO) program, including procedures, training, and field verification.
- Own and administer the Contractor Safety Management program, including Gatefeed compliance, onboarding, and required training.
- Manage mobile equipment operator training, including initial qualification and periodic recertification.
- Support development and delivery of safety-related training programs as assigned.
- Manage the site Hazardous Waste Program in compliance with federal, state, and company requirements, including waste characterization, storage, labeling, inspections, documentation, and coordination of off-site disposal.
- Support environmental compliance activities as assigned, including inspections, audits, and corrective actions.
- Serve as the Responsible Care Management System (RCMS) Coordinator and support RC 14001 program.
- Manage the QHSES (Quality / Health, Safety, Environment, and Security) tracking system, ensuring accurate data entry, follow-up, and reporting.
- Maintain, improve, and establish corrective and preventive action processes related to RC 14001 and HSES programs within assigned areas.
Required Qualifications that Enable Your Success
- Bachelor’s degree in Science (or related field).
- 1+ years’ experience, in a HSES position
- Experience with environmental, health, safety & process safety regulations.
- Experience with MS Office tools.
- Good analytical skills preferred.
Preferred Qualifications that Drive you Forward
- BS Degree in Occupational Safety & Health
- 1+ years’ experience, in a HSES position in a chemical or heavy industrial environment.
- Experience training others.
- Experience implementing HSES Projects and Programs.
