Summary

 

This position with CPI Fluid Engineering is reporting to the Industrial Product & Marketing Director and has responsibility for the long-term market strategy and implementation. Operating mostly in the 18-60 months horizon he/she will own the global Marketing Plan Process, encompassing the development of meaningful value propositions, segmentation, value chain analysis, geographical and segment participation strategies. 

 

This role is accountable for analyzing CPI’s competitive strengths and challenges, evaluating the capabilities of the competition, reviewing the global market to determine and anticipate customer needs and in collaboration with CPI's technology teams, develop new product and service offerings with emphasis on industrial lubricants.

 

Key Accountabilities & Responsibilities

  • Develop market information including in-depth value chain analysis providing a clear picture of competitive landscape, market opportunities and potential risks.  Evaluate scenarios and recommend best options for maximal return on investment.
  • Development, communication, and implementation of comprehensive marketing plan focused on driving top line growth faster than GDP.  Present plans to management team for enhancement/approval.
  • Constantly scan the environment, analyzing industry trends and assessing business impact.
  • As commercial owner for strategic projects, work in close partnership with R&D to prioritize and drive innovation projects based on financial projections and strategic fit.
  • Ensure all commercial assumptions are made upfront before committing technical resources; constantly testing the assumptions and value proposition throughout the life of the projects.
  • Work in close partnership with the global Sales Team, Product Management, and Technical Applications Services to develop and maintain a robust front-end innovation pipeline based on end-users and customers’ needs.
  • Develop recommendations for strategic relationships/partnerships where they make sense
  • Identify innovation opportunities for Market positioning of products, services, and selling strategies. 
  • Develop ideas and related strategies to launching new products and services:
    • Consider branding and channels to market, as well as promotional campaigns;
    • Work closely with regional Product Managers to establish product pricing, targeting, and positioning as warranted.

Requirements – Education, Experience, Skills 

  • Bachelor’s degree, preferably in Marketing, Business Administration, Chemistry, Chemical Engineering, or engineering related discipline.  Candidates with an MBA are preferred.
  • A minimum of 7+ years of prior experience in combination of Sales, Marketing roles;
  • Self-starter with strong organizational skills; ability to manage and prioritize tasks/projects.
  • Quick learner with excellent communication and presentation skills
  • Ability to gain a quick overview of the market, key players and the general technology;
  • Excellent team player with ability to develop rapport with key internal team players, stakeholders/management and customers.
  • Ability to lead/influence team through thought leadership  
  • Demonstrated ability to identify and develop market insights for business segment and translate them into definable business opportunities:
    • Understand market trends, key players and addressable market size.
  • Creative thinker who can establish differentiated strategies:
    • Understand competitive landscape and core competencies of our company to develop sustainable and differentiated strategies.
  • Familiarity with the Marketing Plan Process in a B2B environment;
  • Travel up to 20%; infrequent international.
  • Demonstrated track record of effective leadership in past roles;
  • Financial acumen and analytical capabilities;
  • Must earn the confidence of the sales organization.
  • Proficiency in MS Excel, Word, PowerPoint.
