We currently have the following opportunity available in our Estane Polyurethane Process Technology (PT) Department for an Operations Project Manager at our Brecksville, OH location.

 

PURPOSE:

The Operations Project Manager is responsible for planning, communicating, and executing strategic operations focused projects. The portfolio of projects that will be managed include, but is not limited to: global product transfers, strategic raw material qualifications, multi-regional product commercialization efforts, regulatory product changes and global platform/process deployments. The project manager shall be responsible for ensuring that the team delivers project objectives on time and on budget, while minimizing scope creep. The project manager will also be responsible for leading and managing the global raw materials alignment and being the main point of contact for Supplier relationships with Process Technology. Lastly, the project manager will retain core responsibility for managing Third Party Manufacturing (3PM) relationships within Process Technology including, leading process/product deployment at 3PM sites, managing 3PM manufacturing trials, and assisting with any potential insourcing efforts that may arise between 3PM’s and Lubrizol.

 

DUTIES/RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Utilize project management principles to be able to plan, communicate milestones, and execute strategic projects, with emphasis on Operations focus.
  • Be able to create and manage projects to a budget using PPMP (Project and Portfolio Management Process).
  • Support Estane UOI growth by practicing and advocating the use of business processes including Pilot Plant Request (PPR) system, Manufacturing Authorization (MA) process, Product and Portfolio Management Process (PPMP), and other related processes.
  • Organize and lead multi-functional teams through influence and communicate/document outcomes.
  • Communicate effectively to business leadership team on a routine basis on project status, milestones, schedule, and budget adherence.
  • Foster productive communication with Operations colleagues across the globe and lead by example in a coaching/mentoring environment.
  • Cultivate a strong professional relationship with all parts of the LZAM business including Operations, R&D, Procurement, Marketing, Product Management, and Account Management.
  • Be comfortable with routine customer, 3PM and supplier interactions while reinforcing Lubrizol’s reputation and protecting Intellectual Property.
  • Use creative engineering to ensure that Lubrizol’s processes can be efficiently and safely transferred from one location to another, including to potential 3PM sites.
  • Use statistical tools to analyze experimental data and be able to effectively communicate results both written and orally.
  • *When needed for specific projects plan, analyze, and safely execute pilot plant extrusion line runs, including reactive TPU extrusion and resin compounding.

 

SKILLS, QUALIFICATIONS, EXPERIENCE, SPECIAL PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS:

  • Minimum of a bachelor’s degree in an Engineering or related technical field.
  • 2-5 years of manufacturing operations experience, OR participation in the Lubrizol Co-Op program
  • Ability to travel domestically
  • Strong fundamental knowledge in project management principles, and ability to utilize project management software such as Microsoft Project
  • Strong project management skills utilizing stage-gate systems and job aids
  • Strong knowledge of experimental design (DOE) and data analysis using fundamental statistical techniques and statistical software such as Minitab or Statgraphics
  • Basic knowledge of chemical and polymer unit operations, including process and equipment design
  • Excellent interpersonal, communication, and presentation skills
  • Ability to work with others at all levels and in multiple locations within the organization
  • Experience managing both internal and external customer expectations
  • Knowledge and application of SAP enterprise software
  • Basic knowledge of thermoplastic polyurethane polymerization manufacturing and chemistry preferred
