Summary of Responsibilities

The Market Development Manager is responsible for the development of new business revenues and opportunity identification in the strategic focus Composites market segment of Performance Coatings. As part of this role, they will be responsible for cooperating with the Sales and Technical teams to deliver the business growth targets in this segment. They will identify commercial targets and define tactics and value proposition tools to communicate/ convert to sales with the customer.

 

They will identify and work with external customers including channel partners in order to identify value added opportunities. Subsequently and in conjunction with the Global Marketing manager and technical teams, they will propose innovation projects to drive growth in the Composites market.

 

They will have some responsibility to identify growth opportunities by M&A and alliances and will be potentially involved in M&A projects within his/her market segment.  The role brings technical expertise and market-based application knowledge to be leveraged potentially throughout the business internally as well as towards the market.

 

Accountabilities will include helping to assess market potentials, marketing strategies, product placement and positioning strategies and campaigns and leadership of specific initiatives that will result in sustained profitable growth and conversion to financial results in-line with short and long-term targets.

 

Essential Job Functions  

 

  • Share and educate across PCG a deeper market understanding of Composites market and sub-segments within PCG as well as a thorough understanding of technology, formulations, applications, and performance requirements in this area
  • Support efforts to analyze market trends and make recommendations concerning product strategy
  • Through their already established networks and customer contacts, identify trends and unmet needs.
  • Launch new products, gain early market acceptance, and accelerate penetration.
  • Define and refine key strategic customers and establish strong collaborative relationships
  • Expand Lubrizol’s basis for differentiation and competitive advantage in Composites and define how best to demonstrate this
  • In conjunction with Global Marketing and Technical, write innovation projects to address unmet needs around new products, formulations and/or applications to provide solutions valued by customers
  • Maintain opportunity database to manage execution of key opportunities and projects 
  • Work closely with technical teams to meet pipeline project milestones
  • In conjunction with Global Marketing manager and Technical team, develop selling cases to communicate value proposition of projects and products with customers
  • Support the Marketing and Marketing Communications manager in preparation of promotional and technical material for the Composites market (brochures, digital marketing tools, technical articles, presentations, etc.)
  • Identify gaps in our current capabilities and with Marketing and Technical, develop action plans to address them. 

 

Skills, Qualifications, Experience, Special Physical Requirements:

  • Bachelor’s degree in business, marketing, chemistry, or engineering. 
  • KEY : Well established experience and knowledge of the Composites market segment, including both knowledge of value chain; customers, end users and suppliers, AND technical requirements and performance benefits of additives and raw materials used in different manufacturing processes
  • Experience of sales, marketing or technical management in the Composites industry; including:
    • Value chain analysis, customer needs analysis, definition of value proposition, marketing positioning, and a track record of success.
    • Demonstrated success at developing and implementing effective business strategies.
    • Successfully demonstrates B2B market development & market research/analysis capability.
    • Experience in developing product value propositions and market plans.
    • Experience with international markets.
    • Ability to travel domestically and internationally
