The Global Segment Manager is responsible for the profitable growth of the Surface Protection Segment and Aliphatic TPU product line.  S/He will collaborate with a global, cross-functional team to define and execute strategic and tactical plans necessary to achieve stretch goals.  This role requires the agility to flex between strategic vision and tactical execution daily.  As global segment manager, you are expected to leverage a deep market understanding, strong business acumen and high EQ to motivate teams to deliver record performance levels.   


Essential Job Functions  

  • Develop comprehensive medium and long-term strategies to sustainably deliver strong results for the Surface Protection Segment and  Aliphatic TPU business, including the exploration of new applications and business models.
  • Manage global Aliphatic TPU product portfolio and life cycle to maximize growth and financial performance
  • Lead productivity, continuous improvement, investment, and dual sourcing projects, partnering with operations, supply chain, procurement, technical and commercial to achieve success.
  • Manage the innovation pipeline, including identification and prioritization of market needs, preparation of business case, project management and all aspects of commercial launch. 
  • Responsible for global price and margin management.
  • Optimize critical business processes using metrics and KPIs to meet the needs of our customers.
  • Gain deep understanding of global market trends and customer needs to create differentiated product performance and customer experience.
  • Partner with the marketing communications to position Lubrizol as the product of choice for high performance Surface Protection applications globally.
  • Develop and grow personal relationships with relevant industry stakeholders, key customers, and market influencers. 
  • Motivate, coach, and challenge the global team to drive high performance.
  • Ensure all internal stakeholders understand the Surface Protection segment and Aliphatic TPU strategy and their personal contribution to it’s success.



Skills, Qualifications, Experience, Special Physical Requirements:

  • Bachelor’s degree in business, marketing, chemistry, or engineering. 
  • Demonstrated strategy development with global execution using business acumen and quantitative analysis, as shown through exceptional financial results
  • Proven ability to successfully lead global, cross functional teams through uncertainty
  • Minimum of 5 years combined experience between project and product management, marketing, or business management experience, including:
    • Value chain analysis, financial acumen, project management
    • Superior communication skills; verbal, written, and presenting
    • Demonstrated success at developing and implementing effective business strategies.
    • Successfully demonstrates market development & market research/analysis capability
    • Experience in developing comprehensive marketing plans.
    • Experience with international markets.
  • Demonstrated financial acumen considering both strategic and tactical level
  • Travel 20-30%, domestic and international.
